  • I tried that, we got a few auto feeders for a trip. Worked for those few days, but when we decided to stick with them, two of the cats eventually figured out how to manually dispense. I taped over the manual button, so they learned how to dig their paws in and around the inside to push the food out.

Problem there is that they were taking from the next batch that was set to dispense. The meal time would come and nothing would come out because they already ate it. They'd get mad and knock it them over, so they'd starve if I didn't intervene.

    Yeah they're little dickheads.

I'm sure there's more robust auto feeders but I can only learn that after my cats have had a few weeks to fuck around with them 😂

  • That's my superpower, I remember that shit. It'll occasionally come up in conversation where suddenly I look like a genius about some obscure topic and everybody asks "how the fuck do you know that" and all I can say is "see... I looked it up once 4 years ago..."

  • Fortnight absolutely kicked off the battle Royale phase of recent years. PUBG was coming into it's own at the same time, but is a more hardcore experience so it didn't get the viral boom. Fortnight being free to play and fairly casual put wind in it's sails like Minecraft had, every kid everywhere played it.

  • My toxic trait is that I just say things like "No, I just got a new video game and won't be leaving my house for a few days"

I thought it was a good thing, but people hear it as "no, I have better things to do than spend time with you"

  • Army here, we always say 0000 for midnight, but honestly that's probably just because it's what our phones and watches call it. Perhaps it was different before electronic timekeeping was the norm.

  • I'm used to the army, when I'm packing for field stuff, I know that no matter how much I pack for luxury my kit and equipment will still be 80% of the load minimum. Would I rather hump 80 lbs 20 miles and have a miserable night, or hump 85 lbs and have hot coffee and a single person tent I can jerk off comfortably in? Easy choice for me.

When I go hiking with my family I pretty much just carry emergency supplies and the liquor stash, knowing we'll be back to the tents by nightfall.

Long and short, you remove weapons armor and ammo from the picture and it's a lot more impactful to play with the weight. Shaving 5 lbs off a 20 lbs load can let you go 5 more miles when it's for leisure.

  • When I get deja vu, it feels to me like I've dreamt of whatever is happening before, I've always pretty easily been able to say "oh it's just deja vu" and move on.

But once, I woke up and told my wife about a strange dream involving very specific details of a situation with me and my brother. Along the lines of my brother throwing a beer can, it bounced off the trash can, bounced off me, then back into the trash can.

A few days later, my brother did exactly that. I was dumbstruck, even my wife was like "what the hell"

  • Interesting that it specifically says each phone was supposed to get one alert, and that it can tell if your phone is set to see English or Spanish and send the appropriate language. I just got two alerts a few minutes apart, in English and Spanish

  • I think the point he's making is now poorer countries will not get the benefit of regional pricing, they'll have to pay full price, because there's no way to prevent Italians from purchasing at Hungary's reduced regional price.

Long and short, everybody will get the same high price from here on out.
