  • It's fake or someone is seriously fucking up.

If that thing were real, any self respecting collector would have it in an air sealed case (that appears to have an open top), and frankly wouldn't be putting it out on any rack whatsoever.

This is not an item you sell off a rack at a store or con. This is an auction item.

  • Supporting the nominee for president does not preclude criticism.

Is nothing going to change after the election if Biden wins? Probably not, no.

But in this situation, right now, that's a good outcome given how profoundly things will change if the other person wins.

I don't know how to make it understood that no matter what criticisms you have about the way Biden and the Democrats have been running this country, absolutely none of them, not a single one, is more important than preventing Trump from winning, because literally everything goes to shit forever if he wins again.

  • Given how famously obstinate she is, the fact that even she appreciates the simple reality of the situation should be a wake up call for any people that are still harping on this.

It just doesn't make any sense to be against Israel's actions and at the same time do nothing to stop our own Netanyahu from obtaining power.

It's bizarre to me how there seems to be this contingent of people that don't understand we are in an emergency situation. It's not even "lesser of two evils" anymore it's "the building is in flames, grab the nearest fire extinguisher".

  • It's good news but the true test will be on if those users are retained. It's possible the uptick is just a case of iPhone users seeing a new screen they've never seen before and trying the browsers out of curiosity.

Which would definitely be a good thing. Anything that gets the average user to even consider the wild notion of trying something other than the default would be a monumental improvement to the entire tech market.

But I still think the actual numbers on new active users will probably not be as high. Higher, yes, but not a monumental shift. Anything is an improvement, though.

I think it's also possible this is more likely to happen in EU countries than the US. It really feels like European users are generally more willing to use alternative things.

  • What does it mean then?

Oh boy. This is all kinda complex and definitions vary, but very generally:

What Daniel Hilliard does in the movie is technically "drag" in the loosest sense of the term, but he's definitely not a "drag queen". That is a very specific type of gender-bending performance art. A queen is a persona that is typically defined by their exaggeration and/or subversion of gender norms.

What Daniel does is merely playing a female role, and that involves cross dressing. It's a job. He's not out to say anything about gender or play with any social conventions. It's just acting.

  • Right, and the consumer protections and ownership rights for that licence are grossly insufficient compared to what you would get if you bought a physical object.

We've allowed ridiculous compliance requirements and forced updates to become normalized when we never should have, and we've accepted the undermining of user authority because we refused to fight for it.

  • Maybe I'm misreading what you quoted but it seems to suggest you can't do what you're suggesting.

Once that region is set, it's locked in unless you do a reset of the PC...which would presumably go through the windows set up again and ask for region.

  • I'd worry about how that might effect other things. Windows isn't the only thing that changes its behavior based on region. What other software would be looking at that specific region setting?

  • I've been using NewPipe lately and it's given me a greater appreciation for the YouTube recommendations. Because NewPipe just uses the basic, generic recommendations that YouTube shows everyone that isn't logged in, and holy shit I'd forgotten how just bad "mainstream" YouTube is.

  • I'm not mad, but I will say I underestimated how much worse it is when it isn't curating to me. Yeah, I'd rather not have the bad suggestions, but good lord the default YouTube suggestions are nauseatingly bad.
