  • An answer could be: You rent while advancing your career, and eventually become a landlord when you retire, renting to other young people.

Mind, this is not something I believe. Just a reasonable answer to your question I thought of.

  • An often repeated urban legend that has no basis in reality. Software checking the version of Windows gets "6.1" for Windows 7 and "6.2" for Windows 8. The marketing name doesn't matter and is different.

  • English is not my first language but my understanding of the word "race" initially came from fantasy books and games, where "human" is a race, along with "orc" and "elf". You are of course right about "species". Though I now wonder what "race" was supposed to mean in this fantasy context, where it's clearly used to differentiate different species, and yet it's called "race".

  • Forcing the icon from the .desktop file seems stupid, every window could need a different icon (e.g. contact list window and chat windows of an IM app, or browser windows using the website favicon)..

  • The reality is that game development industry is full of exploitation, workers are underpaid compared to people doing the same job in other industries, they commonly have an expectation of unpaid overtime, and now lots of them lost their job.

Having less games is not the issue, people losing their jobs after already having it worse than other office workers is the issue.

  • I read about this, there are even deaf couples who try to make sure their children are deaf, and are shunned if they aren't, because being part of the deaf community is their identity. Trying to "fix" it is seen as bad as it's essentially an attack on their identity.

  • Not that it matters either way but they didn't remove the clause, they just moved it from the introduction to the closing statement. Which clickbait articles all reported as "removed".

But it was always meaningless anyway.

  • for Mars

Let's judge SpaceX for what they are actually doing, rather than a pipe dream the owner happens to have. The company did a lot of things that might be good or bad, but going to Mars is not one of them so it's not really a useful aspect to think about.
