Why the fuck can you even have images in the AskReddit format lemmy community? Huge moderation failure to allow post bodies / image posts, thats for sure. I can't actually verify this but I assume theyre posts and not comments in said posts???

An auto review system for reports / downvote threshold would xe good but once again begs the question of why not just simply not allow image posts.

No sorry, I don't know Java so I can't easily contribute. There are so many people like me!!! We should write it in python so we can reach a wider audience of contributors. From 13 year olds, career and hobby devs, and academia! Python has many mature frameworks and lots of developers who use them. Another implementation is a great idea!

The simple answer your entire query is the fact that PCIe is not the bottleneck. The bus that connects your storage to the CPU is faster than any storage we have these days (ignore sata it doesn't count). There is no innovation to be had with your suggestion, just complexity.

Now, there is something related to your suggestion. Graphics cards are exploring / have explored having storage communicate with them directly because of the latency in loading assets into the CPU then sending them to the GPU. This is where progress is being made on optimizing communication between storage and host.
