to add to this, non removable cords just need to die, there is almost never significant cost to make the cord tetachable and it allows the user to replace the cord after it inevitably gets eaten by a vacuum or breaks of metal fatigue.

Every thing permanently installed in a house should IMO be designed to support one human of weight from above, especially in a room that will have a wet slipery floor.

Honestly my bigges complaint with extra layers is when the manufacturer decides that nobody needs to use modifiers with them.

that same logic was used by American auto manufacturers, then their vehicles became obsolete as the competition had been improving their designs to be more efficient.

what signs? Only a few stores have any signs explicitly mentioning where carts should go, it's just typically common sense that it shouldn't go in the middle of the road.

the USB suspend state could be used to detect when the computer is asleep which could help with getting the login credentials, but the attack would absolutely be tempermental and realistically just installing malware on the computer via the keyboard would be easier.

For the first point I would imagine that relying on the host computer to transmit the data by opening cmd or powershell could work on Windows, however the cost of adding the necessary intelligence into millions of keyboards would probably not be worth it and the limited communication from the host to the Keyboard would be a challenge (capslock, NumLock, Scrollock).

It's almost as if volte being a* proprietary technology hurts consumers and a lack of emergency test numbers (numbers that use the emergency system but are just for testing that it works) makes things harder.

To be fair, phone books are far from common in the USA anymore, and DNS is a far more interacted with technology than old school caller id.

"Lemmy" is just a bunch of protocols, what individuals use those protocols for should be irrelevant to the underlying protocols.

sometimes it's not about solving the immediate problem, but about making sure it doesn't happen again.
