  • So you are a college student? Please correct me if I'm not understanding this. You wouldn't say you are an engineer or a doctor or a lawyer that is still working on their degree, and it feels disingenuous to the scientists in this thread to say you are one if you aren't doing science but rather taking courses as a student.

  • If you are constantly having your comments removed and other comments that you think are comparably bad are not being removed, leave that instance. If you are seeing it everywhere, then leave Lemmy.

You know what they say about someone who smells shit everywhere they go. If you have to ban evade on reddit and Lemmy, you just might be the problem. I opened your profile. The first and last thing I read was a suggestion that someone you were speaking to should be killed. Introspect.

  • Marvel's Deadpool (Wade Wilson) was initially a parody of DC's Deathstroke (Slade Wilson).

JoJos Bizarre Adventure has a sizable chunk of characters whose names are 80s bands or musicians.

Quite a few stories have biblical names or classical god names for their characters when not depicting the original, but that's even more of a stretch than my other examples.

  • I think you misunderstand. Psychologists may presumably refuse to work with individuals with this user's particular neurodivergence.

It's not exactly the same as a real life situation, but Tony Soprano's psychiatrist eventually refuses to work with him over some (perhaps misdiagnosed) sociopathy.

  • Nepotism obviously existed before capitalism, and it will surely exist at some level in the next economic system, but it's not an either/or. There are many, many problems with capitalism that would probably still exhibit if nepotism somehow immediately ceased.

  • Debunked? Its a counterpoint to the fact that it's pronounced that way because it's spelled with a g. If that poor argument wasn't used, the giraffe one wouldn't have to come up. It's not evidence of anything other than that letters can be pronounced in more than one way.

For the graphical thing, imagine pronouncing NASA wrong because of the way aeronautical is pronounce. Or underwater in scuba. World in WHO? The I in AIDS isn't pronounced anything like immunodeficiency.

    Your argument doesn't work either.
