  • How does that help Amazon if on the price tracker it appears $20, but with the coupon it's actually $10?

If I'm using a price tracker and see it for $20 pre-coupon but another site has it for $15, wouldn't that just drive my business to the other site?

It seems like with using coupons it's just artificially inflating the price on whatever trackers, and that seems like it would be bad for sales to me.

  • It is in the US.

The FTC's Guides Against Deceptive Pricing generally require that a seller offer an item at a price for a reasonable, substantial period of time in good faith, and in the regular course of business, before advertising that price as the former or regular price (16 C.F.R. § 233.1). The FTC considers it deceptive to offer an item for sale at a higher price for a short period of time in order to support a claim that an item is discounted when the price is then lowered. This practice is prohibited.

Additionally, most states have consumer protection statutes that prohibit sellers from making false or misleading statements of fact concerning the reasons for, existence of, or amount of a price reduction (for example, Cal. Civ. Code § 1770(a)(13)). Several states also expressly regulate the length of time an item must be offered at a regular price and amount of time it is on sale (for more information, see Practice Notes, Promotional Pricing: Specific State Laws and "Up To" Discounting Law and Practice: Promotional Pricing: State-by-State Requirements).

  • Bandcamp is a good option for directly supporting artists for the time being, especially if you queue up all your purchases for a Bandcamp Friday, where artists/labels receive all the money rather than BC taking their 20% cut.

  • Even with A-Life being busted at the moment I am enjoying the Zone very much. They nailed the atmosphere, sounds, and map, and that’s more than enough for me to get into it again. Already looking forward to playing it through another couple times, and of course the mods are going to be awesome. It’s not perfect but I think they did a great job all things considered.

  • Yeah, that’s right. Edited.

Deny, Delay, Defend is the title of a book about insurance company tactics written in 2010.

Deny, Defend, Depose is what the shooter had written on the shell casings.

  • Deny delay defend is what insurance companies say, deny defend depose is what the killer wrote on the bullets. Depose doesn’t make sense if you’re the insurance, they defend as in lawyers.

  • Thanks for elaborating. I knew limits were going to show up.

You make a good point, although I would like to point out that one hundred quinvigintillion is basically right next to the number 1 on the number line that goes to infinity. The chance of the monkeys not writing Shakespeare is infinitesimally small. You winning every possible lottery every day for the rest of your life is infinitely more probable than the monkeys not writing Shakespeare.

  • I hope this turns out better than the Intel modem they had in the XS before going back to Qualcomm. One of the reasons I was excited to get the 12PM was because it had a Qualcomm modem, it easily outperformed the Intel one.

  • There’s 100% chance that all of Shakespeare’s and all of Trump’s writings will be started immediately with infinite monkeys. All of every writing past, present, and future will be immediately started (also, in every language assuming they have access to infinite keyboards of other spelling systems). There are infinite monkeys, if one gets it wrong there infinite chances to get it right. One monkey will even write your entire biography, including events that have yet to happen, with perfect accuracy. Another will have written a full transcript of your internal monologue. Literally every single possible combination of letters/words will be written by infinite monkeys.

  • one will almost surely start typing Hamlet right away

This is guaranteed with infinite monkeys. In fact, they will begin typing every single document to have ever existed, along with every document that will exist, right from the start. Infinity is very, very large.

  • I have a toaster oven / convection oven / air fryer combo and it doesn’t suffer from this issue.

Mainly, what I was trying to point out is aside from the grease issue that was pointed out, there’s nothing special about air fryers. Any issue aside from grease buildup would also affect convection ovens, which have existed for a long time with no ill effects noted. It’s just an electric heating element and a fan, they’re not doing anything that special. I don’t think they’re going to be found to be dangerous in the future.

  • It also won’t surprise me too much if there’s some health hazard with them other than just the buildup of grease.

It’s an electric heating element and a fan, same as a convection oven except it exhausts rather than recirculates the air. Any issues beyond the grease buildup you mention would apply to any electric oven or toaster.

  • Don’t forget the mods! You didn’t have to download anything, it was all server side. I forgot which mod I played most but you could set up all sorts of sensors, automated turrets, forcefields, etc using models and textures already in the game but repurposed.

Also, the net code was extremely good, it was very playable even on my 33.6k modem.
