My wife and I just recently moved using military movers and all our stuff is fine. She’s a captain (the O3 kind).

Both teams of people were professionals and we didn’t lose anything to theft or damage. Maybe we just got lucky, idk. My experience as lower enlisted having government movers pack up my shit in Italy to move back to the states was similar back in 2014 though. Never had an issue.

When I was putting together my NAS, WD was selling their NAS grade drives without disclosing they were SMR. They got hit with a class action for this.

They’re all trying shady shit, no HDD will run forever, no corporation cares about you, so use whatever you want and backup your data.

I have 114TB of Seagate drives right now and they’re fine. I’d use WD too, or HGST. The fanboyism around HDDs is so strange to me.

Can't they be read by someone who's compromised whatever server the other person is using? Since email isn't encrypted, couldn't anyone who picked up the traffic on the way to your server also read that email?

Kids items have been cheaper as long as I can remember. I guarantee a restaurant you’ve been to has had two identical items at different prices, or things that are cheaper and you get more of the thing. The only thing modern about this is taking a screenshot of your cart.

Picked up a Rotring for my wife a while back and she constantly gets compliments on it. Really nice weight and feel to it.

I went to a hot spring in Colorado that was like this. The steamy water flowed out of the side of a hill and trickled down to numerous pools at various temperatures. There was snow everywhere and an absolutely frigid creek right next to the hot spring pools. Steam rose from the piping hot water obscuring anything more than 10 feet away. Clothing optional after dark. Beers stayed cold because the air was below freezing.

Getting used to the hot spring temperature, going for a quick dip in the below freezing creek water, then back to the hot spring, was quite an experience. I don’t think my nerves could handle the violent change in temperature. When you’d switch either way it was like getting simultaneous burned and frozen with hot ice for a few moments until your nerves could catch up to reality.

I used to read encyclopedias and instruction manuals for pleasure as a child. As an adult, I now read Wikipedia, tech white papers, and scientific journal articles. You absolutely can read for pleasure online. It’s not all garbage.

Yep my first thought of this is as a technicality. One day every pixel displayed on your monitor has passed through some sort of upscaling or frame generation.

To verify you’d have to set a calibrated weight on there. They could be incorrect by the same amount. The scales have good precision with one another, but the accuracy is unknown.

While I agree with this in theory, being a pain in the ass right off the bat isn’t going to work well a lot of the time. Answer the questions, keep it simple and respectful, address them as officer or whatever, and get on with your day. I’ve gotten out of so much shit this way. Boring is good. If you are a pain in the ass you’re going to stick out and that increases your chances of being harassed.
