  • My dad would rent movies from blockbuster then set up the camcorder on a tripod to film the movie off the TV. It was always a big to-do since we all had to be quiet so we didn't ruin the recording...

  • deck game-specific settings:

    • Compatibility: proton experimental
    • refresh rate 40hz
    • allow tearing
    • half-rate shading off

    in-game settings:

    • master quality: very low
    • fullscreen
    • 40fps limit

For some graphically-intensive builds or that one map in the swampy area that i cannot for the life of me maintain 40fps, i turn the resolution down in-game (but still fullscreen) and use the deck's FSR at max sharpness, though this does make text a little hard to read, so i try to avoid it. I can generally get away with tdp limit of 10-12W too.

  • I shared the actual PDF with my mother and father, and they told me it was "liberal propaganda". Funny thing is, they aren't uneducated or stupid. They've just had Fox News and conservative talk-radio playing in the background of their lives for 20+ years. It's actually really sad. They used to be Hank Hill type conservatives, now they refuse to even entertain opinions (or facts, for that matter) that they don't already believe.

  • I think that's one of the theories for explaining dark matter (i personally like the idea because it can also possibly address why gravity seems to be so much weaker of a fundamental force, but i'm a chemist, not a physicist, so take that with a grain of salt).

  • We actually kinda do perceive a fourth dimension: time. Sure, we infer it from our memories and come up with cause and effect relationships to help us understand it. But we do know it's there.

  • i do this all the time. when i get close to finishing the game, i HAVE to go do all the side quests i neglected to finish along the way. Then i get burned out and beforei do the final boss... But my SO has similar video game tastes as me, so i end up just watching him do the final boss on his save hahaha

  • Sometimes i'll do this in the winter. We try to minimize heat/AC energy usage, and i get cold easily, so once i'm in the nice warm shower it takes a minute to work up the courage to make the mad dash to get my clothes back on lol

  • Light

    Jump
  • I think, from the photon's perspective, the time between emission and absorption is instantaneous (since they're traveling at the speed of light). i imagine a photon's journey would feel like utter chaos.

  • platformers very often include coyote-time to make jumps feel better and to account for imprecise reaction times of players, but that would be cool to see it as a legit mechanic
