  • Significantly partially. In January Dutton started to style himself after Trump, even going so far as getting tips from the GOP, after Trump's win. However by mid-March Dutton was trying to backpedal rapidly but it was too late. Clearly not all his staff got the memo (esp Jacinta Price... oh dear) and everything he did or said could be met with a variation of "hold on, last week you were saying x".

Also I'd like to once again say thanks to the founders that gave us compulsory, preferential voting.

  • It's insane to me that the greatest threat to women is dating men

Yet men are the leading cause of death for women. You're correct, it is absolutely insane, but until those types of men can sort out their fragile masculinity problems here we are unfortunately.

  • It sure seems like a great way to ensure crime will rise. You think people who can't afford to eat are just going to roll over and die? Hell no, they're going to go out and take what they can. Not looking after your population just means your population will look after themselves.

  • Fair enough. I find Friends to be incredibly unfunny and can't stand sitting through a single episode. Frasier, on the other hand, I find to be pretty entertaining (until Niles and Daphne get together, then the wheels start falling off).

  • I'd say waiting for an ambulance while a loved one dies in front of you just because assholes wouldn't get out of the way is more annoying. No doubt followed by some health insurance bullshit that makes zero sense in any other country. But no, it's the tourist who's wrong.

  • I think it's fair to say most people didn't know shit about tarrifs until recently, then got told "no, tariffs are paid by the IMPORTER, not the exporting country". The word "tariff" right now is assumed to mean "import tariff" as that's how the word is commonly being used, so if you mean "export tariff" it may be a good idea to explicitly say it instead of getting upset when people don't know what you mean.

  • Doing payroll would be you performing a transaction in another country to people in that other country. At no point are you performing work where you receive remuneration in the country you're visiting - which is the point of working visas. Just because you did a bit of paperwork for your work back home doesn't mean you're violating tourist visa conditions.
