Unfortunately most modern cars are built this way.

After extensive 6-months search of new car, I concluded that you have to compromise.

I went with Nissan pathfinder and the software isn’t mature yet. Engine runs rough with misfires when idle. The car assembled with misaligned parts.

Nissan knows and wouldn’t fix the issue.

I’m currently running debian 12. The tv is mainly used for YouTube so ublock origin + dearrow + sponsorblock + thumbdown back.

Unfortunately the only downside is HDR support. I had to use clunky smart tv software to run Jellyfin for HDR content.

I’ve tried KODE. It’s still not mature for my taste.

Hopefully they will. I was bummed when I knew that apple tv has no vpn functionality.

They have many options depending on your needs. If you want it to charge your laptop through the dock / hub, ensure that it has power pass through functionality.

AI upscale is not worth it in my opinion unless you watch old blueray rips since compression algorithms would make upscaling worse in some cases.

I have Apple tv and linux pc for my 2 tvs.

If Apple tv cover your needs then go for it. I got it used in 2017 (I believe gen 3) and still butter smooth to this day.

By splitter I mean small docking station. I use it daily and never had issues. I plug a mouse, hdmi, and Ethernet cable as well as power pass through.

Instead of having many dongles just buy a splitter and that’s it.

It’ll have 3 usbs, usbc, hdmi, Ethernet, sd card reader and power pass through.

Similar to laptop docks for 1/10th of the price.
