  • I don't need to hear more US-funded, Britain-backed, or Pro-Maidan voices. You can go to your BBC, CBCs, NBC if you want.

  • Marxist-Leninist Mao Zedong Thought, based around the pragmaticism of Deng Xiaoping, who introduced and encouraged market reforms to co-opt the international capitalist system and use it towards socialist means...

These people are ruling China as we speak, and they are doing good, speaking softly while carrying a big stick

  • Amen... And I suppose if it ain't solved, "Pax" Amerikkkana will take advantage of it

  • How much of the Palestinian solidarity from them is equally thin and motivated by sectarianism rather than genuine humanitarian outrage? It’s deeply disappointing and reveals that we have all failed as supporters of Palestinian freedom to educate enough people as to why the cause matters.

Divide and conquer. The Qatari comprador capitalist hegemone have their own interest. The Saudi-UAE-led Khaleej too. The Turks too. Which all align with the interests of the Western American-European clique, in regards to Syria.

Using the cudgel of fighting for Syrian Democracy against Syrian Baathist 'authoritarianism', then later "Iranian influence" and Political Shia'ism, they reason and condition with their local populations that they have a stake to behold in such endeavors, and thus in funding them, sending in foreign fighters and guns, sanctioning them and so forth

After all, the Shia and Baathist ideologies are often anti-western imperialism, socialist-oriented, and all revolutionary, threatening the spoils of empire for the following Sunni hegemones.

As you can see, in 'The Assassination of Julius Caesar, A People's History of Rome, by Michael Parenti'

But ideology is not merely a promotion of class interest. The function of ideology is precisely to cloak narrowly selfish interests, wedding them to a more lofty and capacious view of society. These might be summarized as follows:

First and foremost, the oligarchic clique represents its own privileged special interests as tantamount to the general interest -

  • First off, majority are Sunni, and Sunnis were kinda disenfranchised in Baathist Syria, kinda like how Shias were in Baathist Iraq

2nd, Al Jazeera is funded by Qatar, which itself has funded Syrian rebels

  • You can kill lots of em but the cause of which that makes them, keeps them spawning, like a video game

Edit: downvoter, the f you want?

  • One has to separate Zizek the philosopher,

    Zizek the pop culture philosopher.

Well, what's the difference? I know his foreign policy and his role as "jester of capitalism" is quite marde, as Gab Rockhill pointed out...

  • America, you have suffered 1 million deaths in yer entire country

Don't spread the rest of this shit again, eh!

  • Sounds like something he would say but "the Ukraine" kinda exposed it (remember, NAFO people say "Ukraine")

    That and

    remakred

    et

    Isreali

because the Washington Post doesn't do grammatical f-ups....

    Good satire tho...

  • a Maoist podcast on the GPCR

    Which one anyway?

There was this one by Drew Smith, a foreign professor who decided to settle in China, called the "Great Proletarian Cultural Revolution" podcast and in a nutshell, he said it was, in a nutshell:

A mixed bag of good and bad in terms of judgement,

A kerfufle between pseudo-anarcho ultra-lefts, lefts, and right factions of the Communist party...

From what I've heard: I guess some rural and urban areas developed not only politically but materially, like Xi'an, where Drew lives, but some turned into out-right street battles where guns and artillery were even used in the 'arm the Left' campaign...

Weird shit ranged from worshipping Mao like that of a God to forcing a professor to chug ink and kick him in the stomach to vomit, for having the wrong ideas... (which Mao wouldn't have all approved, or just brushed off)

Some seizures of power were genuine, some of them were just self-coups (autogolpes) by rightist factions

It had interviews with some Chinese and foreign people who either personally experienced it, studied it academically, or both... so I don't think this podcast is necessarily an ego-boosting ultra project...

  • I mean, use their logic against them...

You know, if these same ppl say "oh Palestine should given wholly to the Israelis, because their ancestors got killed by the German Nazis"

Say "The German people deserved to get their government purged and replaced with a whole new Socialist German Republic, for what they've done in the Holocaust, et so forth..."

  • Think about it....

Put yourself in the POV of one of those ultranationalistic German clowns in that period:

Tl;dr: it could be the fact that the sweeping societal whiplash transforming from to Hitlerite to a brotherly Socialist country and its ramifications could prbly do something with it...

But I mean, not all Germans in the Eastern part prbly share the same idea of fleeing the country, but yk, a new German people wasn't born without birthmarks of the old horrible Nazi Germany, whose anti-communist ideas had probably been imprinted long on some of them heavily....

  • At this point, if we knew the train was coming, it would be good to wreck its rails... if not have an RPG just incase

  • Eh, not necessarily, this more of a serious political instance than a casual one (though it gets mememy), but if it means something, Dessalines, one of the main founders of Lemmy, probably intended this political activity in this pro-FOSS fediverse...

Be warned, though, if you're not cool with the political stance of anti-western dominance, this may not be the place for you:

    Lemmy's origin story

Reddit closed its source code years ago, and the reddit redesign has become a bloated anti-privacy mess.

Its become absorbed into that silicon valley surveillance-capitalist machine that commidifies users to sell ads and paid flairs, and propagandizes pro-US interests above all. Software technology being one of the last monopoly exports the US has, it would be naive to think that one of the top 5 most popular social media sites, where so many people around the world get their news, would be anything other than a mouthpiece for the interests of those same US coastal tech firms.

  • Never thought we would get historical materialism from a lemm.ee user, but thanks a lot actually for the clarification! 😀

  • I know that, for sure, I've had one of his videos, but other than that... how does Makan know him personally and what's the beef?
