  • You see, this is what I was telling some other lemmyer. All this T Swift jet stuff is distracting from the fact that private airplanes are not a major cause of green house emissions. It's industry. They love all these memes pulling the heat off of them.

  • I mean, by definition she is an individual. A really bad individual when it comes to see CO2 emissions.

If you're interested in improving things. Then all the Taylor Swift posting is actually working against you. You're basically spreading the vibe that Taylor Swift alone is the problem or that people who travel a lot in private jets are the problem. Which is not a useful truth in that there are way bigger polluters.

What would be great is if we got a bunch of funny memes about industry producing a huge amount of fossil fuels. That would be more productive.

  • Na, you are a whiny little bitch and you know it ;)

You can dish it, but you can't take it. You could have simply denied my claim that you aren't interested in talking about the problem/solutions. But instead your "direct" dumb ass played the "Who's upset?" game.

I do appreciate the willingness to hear possible solutions problem though. I think your frustrations with what ifs are valid.

Sorry about getting uppity, but your initial post sounded a lot like the kind of people who want to cause more suffering in the world by denying these problems exist. You got to put those people in their place, you know.

  • Wait I'm confused. You're upset that somebody brought up a problem without a solution, and you're upset about the idea of possible solutions to this problem.

Seems like you just don't want to talk about this particular problem and have a traumatizing history of failing to convince people to not talk about it or the solutions.

Sounds like weak baby shit to me.

  • I think your analysis is missing something. It's not islamists that are the problem (any more than any religion is). It's that the US is a destabilizing force in the Middle East. As long as we have our fingers over there people are going to be pissed about it and do wacky stuff like fund terrorist organizations.

If the US and Iran switched places. I guarantee you we'd be doing the same thing.

Don't let your religious bigotries give you brainworms.

  • I think the number of Afghan people willing to get flattened by airplanes leaving the country is a good indication that most Afghanistan people were not interested in Taliban leaders.

I think the US (or any country for that matter) is just incapable of installing a government in the Middle East that isn't going to be filled with weak grifters and corruption.

  • Your sarcasm is on point but there are a limited number of people who can answer some questions. They get flooded and are answering questions on their own free time. So some people get left in the dust if they don't follow the rules.

It sucks but I don't see a way around it.

  • Left wing and right wing are like political vibes. They only make sense when you have more understanding of what the issues are. What they mean can change over time.

I think it's easier to understand what the individual issues are and why people want them or don't want them. Then you need to figure out what your ideology is and pick what things you want to support to further your political goals.

  • I don't think you understand, there is no illegal way to cross the border. If someone tells you that there is people crossing the border illegally, they are doing a lie or have bought into false conservative talking points, you shouldn't believe that. Now, there are undocumented immigrants, and that is something we could talk about. But illegal immigrants is not a thing, it's like wizards in the Harry Potter universe. Fun to think about, but not real.

  • As an experienced Linux user, yes, but as someone who has only used Windows, that wisdom is not in place.

By the time they get burned out by trying two random Distros, they are going to be pissed and if you say "You should have checked" they will remain on Windows out of spite, even after Windows goes under.

  • This right here is why the Linux community needs to pick a single desktop that just works for people who are switching over for gaming purposes.

Yeah, having the choice of multiple Distros is great from a technical perspective. But most people forgot what it was like on Windows.

Gamers are not interested in distro hopping on their first time attempt to get Linux to work.

If we're going to say that a benefit of Linux is the multiple distros to a new person, you had better warn them that some distros are not as easy to work with as others. Looking at the cool desktop pictures on the website is not a sign that a distro is easy to work with.
