  • You're all good, my friend.

I hope you and your peers are not subjected to a life that is substantially poorer than that of my peers.

That a person is destined to live with their parents until they are approaching their thirties is awful for that person, and that seems to be happening as a normality.

I said it wasn't a sentiment that was completely in irony. I'm rather sick of the corruption inherent in this country's government, and that official investigations into the corruption never result in a resignation or job loss.

  • Hat tip from across the pond. πŸ™

  • (UK) Government.

It could not be any worse than the most-obvious self-serving pocket-liners of this century.

  • Or maybe: all of the parties are crap. Sounds more plausible than "all of us are stupid".

I was only just old enough but this decade feels just like the 1970s. Nothing works, local monopolies taking the piss, strikes, and useless leaders and parties. The phrase "managed decline" was coined to describe failing public services. It gave rise to the punk anarchist in the last couple of years of the 1970s. Anarchy is the way forward for me.

Had anyone useful listened to one punk icon, Jimmy Savile would have been properly exposed. Instead they banned Johnny Rotten. It was indicative of the time.

Propose parliamentary candidates worthy of our votes (not just preprogrammed to line their own pockets) and we'll vote.

  • (not sure what's going on with Lemmy. I'm getting message/comment notification well after reasonable times. Yours has taken 21 days to appear.)

    Fair enough.

Having enjoyed the open source Logseq to make a proper archive of the bits of knowledge I accumulate, I reluctantly moved on to Obsidian, which is proprietary.

Obsidian is much the better product, Logseq feels lacking and in need of a guiding hand and significant funding.

That said I used Logseq for over a year and enjoyed my time.

Both products work on Markdown files which are plain text and are useful in a standard editor and therefore will outlive Logseq and Obsidian.

  • Any more of a clue? What is your focus right now?

  • Quite so. There is an optimum time to renew as given by Money Saving Expert amongst others.

My point was to draw the mal insurance company practice within the realms of subscriptions so that it will be caught by the enquiry and anything that emerges from it.

  • With car insurance almost invariably automatically set to annually renew by the insurance company whether you want that or not, car insurance is a (disguised) subscription service.

Every money advice place esp Money Saving Expert dating look around annually, auto annual renewal should be illegal.

I f#@king hate that car insurance companies do that.

Thanks to OP for posting the article.

  • Because everyone knows who the mother is through birth and following months/years if they're lucky, and the only connection a father has with his children is a last name.

It's quite reasonable that mums want the same surname as their children so ..

The trouble with that is that between twenty and thirty percent of children, depending on source, call the wrong person 'dad'.

  • I used to read (books, newspapers, cereal packets, everything, even fricking Cosmo) a hell of a lot before t'internet. Now I struggled to read a magazine in one sitting. I have a diet of RSS feeds and the linked articles.

I'm thirty years older, as we all are pre- post- net, so that probably has an effect but it's upsetting me how little I read (read) now.

I have a old Kindle (circa the first paperwhite series) which I find is devoid of battery power whenever I pick it up and I forget to replace it on my wireless phone charger (buy the kindle a wireless charging client with a microUSB plug from Amazon/AliExpress to put between the cover you necessarily bought and the Kindle) when I remove my phone.

Thinking buying a dumb phone might be the way forward to kill my died of short articles which maybe killed my attention span.

  • I identify as older millennials (born at some point in the 80s), male, and about 50/50 split between living in North America or the EU.

    I'm not but that's how I identify.

  • There's a reason they got the generic name Karens.

Like Gary (Garys aren't Karens), there aren't many around now but the few I've ever come across really were worthy of these name.

  • My ex wife. Imagine a Karen. Now imagine she's a solicitor who believes she is the law - no, not the police/a police officer, literally the law .. statute .. Acts.

That went as you might imagine it did.

  • John Wick.

Or maybe the Ian McShane character person..

Or the adjudicators that made JW an outcast in three (was it?).

    Yes, the adjudicators.

  • Search. I want to search the entire Lemmy, not just 'my' instance.

Failing that: have Lemmy content appear in search engines.
