  • Interesting. I guess I've only ever used driving directions offline.

In their defense, Google does clearly say this on their website:

Tip: Transit, bicycling, or walking directions are unavailable offline. In your offline driving directions, you can’t get traffic info, alternate routes, or lane guidance.

  • Technically they sell ads that rely on user data they collected. I was just trying to say they are uniquely evil in that their entire business model revolves around user data while claiming they are a search company or OS company or email company whatever project they will start and kill next.

Most POS companies like LexisNexis are very open about their business model being people's personal info.

  • A little over 70k miles on odo. Covid subtracted about a year worth of miles. I can't even guesstimate charge/discharge cycles unfortunately.

When I bought the car I couldn't charge at home for the first year so I wasn't charging much and drove it like a regular hybrid.

After 1 year I was able to charge at home and doing about 90% electric driving. Discharging ~100% and recharging fully every night on days I drove the car.

  • I haven't tried their app, but my car, unfortunately, has TT built in. Still looks and works as bad as it did 15 years ago on my Windows phone. I accidentally started it once when I didn't notice that my phone didn't connect via Android Auto. I'd rather Mitsubishi just included nothing when negotiations with Google failed.

  • Transmission is pretty much the only component I can think of that's simpler. I have four motors (5 with ICE) instead of one. Lots more cooling lines. Ton of high voltage / high amperage wiring. And a ton of silicone chips that make all that work together.

I agree that you can build an electric car simpler than an ICE car, but there are no real world examples other than a few unique cases like Edison Motors.

  • Could you link some stats for this?

My 8yo Outlander still has ~80% of original range on lithium batteries.

You might be one of those people keeping cars for 20 years, but majority swap cars much more frequently so lithium battery degradation is not really an issue.

  • Same. Almost every single argument ends with personal insults. At least on reddit people tried to avoid those because karma was such a big deal. Here nobody cares so they shit on each other whenever they disagree.

  • I just installed 12" exhaust fan in my garage because my car refuses to charge it's so hot. 15 minutes to install and wire the fan. 2 days to frame and finish both sides. I fucking hate stucco.

  • You just can't make a comment without personal attack, can you?

Please give me context in which judge hands out sentence for even the most vicious of crimes and follows it up with personal attacks.

I understand online forum isn't a court room, but there's zero reason for insults in either case.

  • Imagine if the judge reading a list of charges on you followed up each one with "you dumb fuck".

What you're saying makes no sense.

All I said is keep personal insults to yourself. You know nothing about the people you communicate with on Lemmy. You have zero insight into their life, their experiences, their education or anything that would give you the right to insult them personally.

Just state your opinion and stfu. Full stop. If you're unable to keep personal insults to yourself, don't comment. It's very simple.

  • He didn't say anything factually wrong. Neither did you in the first sentence, but then you went for a personal attack for no reason.

People claim Lemmy is better because downvotes mean nothing, but that also encourages this shitty behavior.

  • Would he go the crazy route is there was an established treatment with 100% success rate though?

How many people you know that drink diluted shit to treat rabies? You just go get your shots like a good boy and live to get bit another day.
