I mean Firefox is mostly funded by a deal with Google to have them as the default engine. I don't like it but I understand why it is the way it is.

It's impossible to make your data completely unattractive to purchase but using something like the adnauseum extension on your browser can make your data less useful when it has been purchased.

I don't think I could disagree more. I use both and listening to music and watching videos are entirely different activities for me and I want the apps to do different things in different ways.

It probably depends on your instance, but if I go to everything and sort by active, there are a bunch of posts at the top with hundreds of comments. On Lemmy it's way more normal to comment on a post that's a couple days old than it has been on Reddit for almost a decade.
