  • Of course this is all a wild simplification but, Azerbaijan basically wants to take over all of Armenia and have a border with Turkiye. Armenia is "Pro-Russia" in that Russia is the only country offering to step in, and they desperately need the "peacekeeping" forces to keep Azerbaijan out. They kinda have to just go with whatever Russia says at this point if they want to continue to exist.

  • I always thought salt lamps looked cool and wanted one. I didn't learn until very recently that people thought they cleanse energy or whatever lol

  • All of Tasmania has about the same population as my city. I'm in the process of moving somewhere a little more rural so we'll see if I can keep up with shopping in person.

  • Remember to get your admin a little treat every now and then to keep them happy.

  • Just the one. I send them a couple bucks a month too.

  • I know it's not feasible for everyone, or even most people, but I just generally avoid shopping online as much as possible.

  • Yeah, but I feel like those people are mostly going to gravitate towards FOSS clients

  • They've mostly stopped but there were a handful of people who were acting like the sync dev shot their children.

  • I feel like the pool of Lemmy users who are willing to use a closed source app but not use the play store has to be incredibly small.

  • Lemmy is a bunch of servers that talk to each other instead of just one server that holds everything. A Lemmy "instance" is one of those communicating servers. You can join any of the ones that talk to each other and see the same content. You can sign up at any of the websites you see in people's usernames here (e.g. mine is lemmy.sdf.org), it's good to sign up for the slightly smaller ones to better balance the server load.

  • The dev is also in England where the cost of living is skyrocketing. For me $20/yr for a staple app on my phone that's constantly being updated is totally reasonable.

  • Campfire smoke is worse for you than cigarette smoke, the problem is the consistent exposure to the cigarette smoke through becoming addicted.

  • A "test kitchen" is a thing. It's like a research lab but for food. Most food publications have test kitchens.

  • I'm absolutely shocked that someone with an account on a crypto-themed instance is equivocating being a communist and egregious homophobia. Lmao.

  • 2016? Let me tell you about a little supreme court decision from 2000 called Bush v. Gore.

  • I get complaining about the price, I get being a FOSS diehard, but there are are a handful of accounts that are so insanely mad about Sync and commenting/posting about it so much that they genuinely can't be mentally well.

  • And you think throwing a tantrum all morning and calling people names is a good way to get attention?

  • Holy shit my dude, you are really mad about this.

  • No. It just straight up isn't. A selling point is something you use as advertising to sell something.

  • It isn't a selling point. It was launched without a one time purchase option and was added when so many people immediately asked for a lifetime purchase instead.
