  • Times change. I see nothing wrong with it. Same as you used to be able to park without paying, then you started to pay, and now it's moving from those machines to phone apps. And in the future there may be other form of pay, or maybe parking is directly forbidden o who knows what but there will be a change, for sure. Because things change.

It's just nostalgia working. Things change. You were more capable of dealing with change at a younger age and that's why you see the older the people get the more they complain about everything.

But is just a change, like many other that came before that.

  • I recently bought and immediately returned an 8bitdo controller. In this case the ultimate C2.

It was uncomfortable to the hands. It has a strange narrow shape, to us accustomed to Xbox controllers.

But the worst thing were the triggers. They had a massive dead zone that made it unplayable to any game requiring progressive input on the triggers. Like they wont start registering the input until 1/4 pressed, and there was no feedback on when they would start registering input. For racing games it was 100% impossible to play.

That was a quick return and a sad red X over the brand for me.

  • We din't need a register of left handed people to start making left handed scissors.

I think society can accommodate without the need for medicalize it. That's the difference I wanted to make, an illness need to be medicalized. A different way of being does not.

For instance, my lighter skin complexion makes so I have to wear more sunscreen that people with darker complexions. But no one would think of it as something to be medicalized. It's just "oh, I usually get burned by the sun, I better buy some sunscreen" or "oh, I'm left handed I better put my mouse in left handed mode", or "oh, I'm gay, I'd better go find someone of my same gender to love". Something like that. Simple, easy and widely accepted.

  • I will argue that the mild part of the autism spectrum, what we call functional autism, is not a mental illness, not a disorder.

It's like being left handed, not the most common thing, it can cause troubles in a world made for right handed people, specially if being left handed is not accepted. But by itself is just another way of being just as "healthy" and "normal" as being right handed.

I think this is an open debate. Some folks prefer it being considered an illness because they want diagnosis and treatment. Others, like me, just love to be this way, and there's nothing I think is wrong with me. The only problem is that the world is not accommodated for people like me, just like it wasn't accommodated for left-handed people not so long ago. But as soon as it's 100% accepted as something normal I don't see it causing any trouble, so if there's no harm there's no illness we can talk about.

  • Because what's the point. Your internet is not their internet. And if they would see that they won't care. Only thing you are doing is mentally saturating your own people and give them a reason for just leaving to more peaceful places that are not posting 24/7 about something that depresses them.

  • Using Voyager, the app has like a thousand (idk how many but a lot) of domains registered, so basically any lemmy link out there take me to the Voyager app.

I would assume the same could be done with peertube app

  • A very few bad games will put that badge, and in a few months no one would ever remember it. Like any other ridiculous anti-AI campaign. You can quote me on July.

If a gamedev want to use Stable Diffusion to render some art, or tortoise to make some voices/sound let them be. As it was predictable anti-AI people would began to pursue actual artist in the name of art.

I take the occasion to promote a really good indie game whose devs used AI to make some art for the game.

    100% recommend.
