  • Nobody can comprehend the idea that maybe I don't like Trump OR Biden. That's what's wrong with this country.

  • I wanted Sanders to win. Not Biden and not Trump. Is it really that difficult to comprehend?

  • out of context

Ah yes, the old "out of context" argument. You know damn well if any Republican said any one of those things, people would be out with the pitchforks. But because it's a Democrat, you're OK with it and blow it off as "out of context." Even though the guy didn't want his kids growing up in a "racial jungle" (his words, not mine).

If you can't look at your own side critically, you are what is wrong with this country.

  • “the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean.” – Biden, referring to President Obama

“Poor kids are just as smart and talented as white kids!”

“It’s awful hard, as well, to get Latinx vaccinated as well. Why? They’re worried that they will be vaccinated and deported.”

“Unlike the African American community, with notable exceptions, the Latino community is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about different things.”

“That’s like saying you . . . before you got in this program, you’re take [sic] a test whether you’re taking cocaine or not. What do you think? Huh? Are you a junkie?” – Biden asking a Black reporter if he’s a cocaine junkie after the reporter asked if he had taken a cognitive test

“You cannot go to a 7-Eleven or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent.”

  • Oh, so he really IS that stupid and racist? Good to know.

  • I never said Trump wasn't guilty. I don't like him either. I want to see that guy fail.

I'm just angry that the best we could do against an obvious threat to our country is someone who isn't mentally fit for anything, and people tell me if I don't like him, I must be a Nazi falling for propaganda.

The lesser of two evils is still evil. We need to do better than this.

  • Ah yes, the old, tired argument that if I don't like Biden, I must be a Trump supporter falling for propaganda. The guy is not coherent enough to be President, in my opinion. These 80 year olds need to get out of politics.

  • I hope Trump is convicted, because Democrats are happy with a racist lost Roomba with dementia in the White House thanks to him.

We need to do better than this.

Edit: So I'm told it isn't dementia and he always was that stupid and racist. Still don't like him or Trump.

  • Ice Cubes, Mammoth, and Mona aren't on this list either. Ice Cubes is the app that got me to actually use Mastodon regularly.

  • "We'll also use union actors to tell our team members why unions are bad."

  • My local grocery store unfortunately has pumpkin spice apple cider this year...

  • I agree. I definitely noticed that the event (correctly) targeted people who are still on Intel. A few YouTubers laughed about the Intel references, comparing them to breaking up with an ex, but I think that was the right call.

  • It'll pick up again, I'm sure. The M1 family fixed almost everything wrong with the Mac, so people were eager to get it, and now we're set for a while. I'm personally going to hold onto my M1 Pro for at least a couple more years.

  • Yeah, everybody who wants an iPhone has one, and most people aren't upgrading every year, despite what the stereotypes say.

And as far as the Mac goes, most people who wanted Apple Silicon upgraded when the M1 was the hot new thing. People held off on buying a new Mac in the latter half of the 2010s because of the keyboard and thermal issues, and once Apple Silicon was announced at WWDC in 2020, we knew the Intel Macs' days were numbered. Most of us bought an M1-based Mac once the model we wanted came out, since the M1 models essentially fixed what was wrong with the Mac.

  • And it's definitely not helping that the biggest Mastodon instance for artists is pretending to be progressive while being hostile to the LGBT community. Mastodon has a chance to snatch up artists who are pissed off about Twitter, and of course they're going to check out mastodon.art not knowing about their bullshit.

I'm not sure what the solution to that should be, however. Take down mastodon.art? I've been telling people to avoid that instance, but non-techie people don't understand that the Mastodon developers don't own it.

  • The Apple devs are probably lucky enough to not have to deal with snow.

  • Depends on which MacBook Pro you're talking about.

If the MacBook Pro you're talking about is the 13 inch model with the touch bar, then get the Air, but if it's the model with the M1 Pro or Max, absolutely go for that. Besides a faster chip, the 14 and 16 inch models have a better port selection, screen, and speakers.

However, the model with the touch bar is essentially the same computer as the Air but more expensive.

I have a 16 inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip and it's still a beast.

  • Still blows my mind that a co-founder of a popular (at the time) site decided to copy a guy who knows nothing about social media and is running it into the ground.

Yeah, I know spez is an asshole, but it's still bizarre.
