  • Would you be interested in having different versions of this? I briefly scrolled the list of communities, and they seem very developer/tech-focused, which I suppose lemmy is. But I think it would be neat to have a tech/Linux/developer seeder, a humor seeder (memes, comics, funny, etc.), a sports seeder, a cute seeder (cats, puppies, animals, etc.), a gaming seeder, etc. Then the admin could decide what type of seeder they want instead of just getting everything, potentially with tons of things they aren't interested in having on their instance.

I say this because I am interested in sports communities and don't see enough of it, but the number one complaint I see on lemmy regarding content type is that there's too much sports content. I moderate a sports community, but I wouldn't feel right adding it to the seeder since so many people complain about seeing it.

  • Nvidia has included a couple of Wayland fixes in at least their 3 most recent driver updates, so hopefully they are taking this seriously and are committed to getting issues on their end fixed.

I haven't used Wayland with my Nvidia rig, but it sounds like they still have a ways to go even with the most recent fixes.

  • As USB gets upgrades to provide more power, we will need those barrel jacks less and less. My laptop can only charge 65W from USB C, but 130W from the barrel jack. It's a couple of years old now, I think from before there was a standard for USB to provide over 100W, but USB C can provide 240W now. So new laptops shouldn't even need barrel jacks anymore.

  • I thought SteamOS was built on Arch. It uses pacman as the package manager like Arch does instead of apt like Debian/Ubuntu does.

Edit: Wikipedia answered it for me. SteamOS 1.0 and 2.0 were Debian-based. Starting with SteamOS 3.0, it is Arch-based.

  • Tbh, I didn't understand what the comment above that one was trying to say, so OP's comment was kind of what I was thinking. But then someone provided additional context, which was helpful, because of that comment. Yeah, it was a rude way to word that question, but I didn't really see it as defensive. Then the second comment by OP just sounded like a normal conversation, and that's when they were called out for being defensive.

  • I know it's a cop out answer, but Mozart was a genius among geniuses. He can make an extremely complex piece of music sound so simple that anyone, even a non musician, can appreciate it. There are so many layers to how complex it is, but if you just listen to the melody, it almost sounds trivial.

Those are the artists that I like most. Artists that can make art that both artists and nonartists can equally appreciate.
