  • Man I feel I'd almost wiped the debian install and added NixOS (nix package manager works fine under debian) using nixos-infect

A clean install and a night's sleep and I'll probably forget I was attempting this, but looks promising.

  • Creating a browser from scratch is a monumental task, ladybird is such a project which has been in progress since ~2022, and will probably take another couple before it's at beta. Optimistic release is 2028, or ~6 years of development.

I've moved to schizofox (NixOS) but there are plenty of other forks available which remove telemetry and other default behaviours from Firefox.

Chromium forks are another alternative however due to chromiums dominance in the browser space I'm reluctant to shoutout any forks.

  • Man it's so rare here, but I loved 2cb & 2ci when they were available.

Dosages could be funny outside of volumetric dosing, which is hard in outside of home environments is probably its biggest downside in my eyes.

No real comedown compared to md** which is fantastic for someone with minimal impulse control like me.

Admittedly lots of other chems I've loved but the 2c* hold a special place with me.

  • Ditch GitHub start using codeberg.

Plenty of office alternatives, outlook is easily replaced (didn't know outlook had banner ads until recently, what a shithole)

If you prefer vscode try codium, some plugins may be missing but so is lots of ms bloat. Kate is a stellar alternative too!

  • Christ, I knew Australian ISP pricings were exy but that's absurd.

I'm looking at going to a 500 / 250? (Might be 100 up) Plan for around 140 AUD per month, I'd much rather have symmetrical Gbit but that's well put of my price range.

$200 USD is around $315 AUD currently, that's a whole ballpark of fucked up.

  • Yeah man what an arsehole giving away free things, spending time making free things for everyone to use for free.

If he wants to keep his code private until he's ready to release it - that's somewhat up to him. The repo is a step in the right direction, just give it some time.

Looking through the git repo the ignore is lopping off quite a number of files too (server) however I'm not sure how much of those are things like secrets, cache, other scripts and so forth.

  • My GPU has minimal lighting (3070 XC) one for the logo on the side, motherboard has its turned off (if it even has any?) and my ram is set to a dull white.

All fans are noctua (heatsink is a d15 black, case are mission brown)

System is somewhat recent (13900kf + z790i edge)

The minimal lighting that I have can be toggled easily.

Funnily enough my z390 board in my rack has more lighting than my desktop PC, can't be bothered to turn it's onboard strip off.

I feel lighting has its place, but too many SI / people overdo it.

  • Cables tend to go bad if they are being bent at the point where the connector sheath meets the cable.

My wife is great at destroying cables - charging her phone while being in bed. I feel the next cable I'll buy her will be have a 90° connector.

  • Oh but it's like anything in life, you can skirt the brim and get a taste of what's on the outside of the bowl, or you can run down the sides and take a splash with the real meat and potatoes.

Nothing wrong with not asking the how or the why, or the who and the what however I find that attitude has led us to being between three and twenty five foot tall, made of a hairy, oily goo wrapped in a tee shirt.

  • Oh, I'm more having a jab at Bambu attempting to raise their walled garden via their latest firmware.

Yeah it's the way of the world, I'm very glad my printer has a community supported Klipper firmware - and am glad to see some people working on this for the folks in the Bambu camp too.

  • Sounds like something Bambu would do, considering their recent drama. Really are trying to be the iPhone of the 3D printer market.

I've only been printing since Novemberish and hated how locked-down the Marlin firmware was on my V3 SE (compared to Klipper), I upgraded my nozzle and needed to flash the firmware for temps up-to 300c so it was use a modded Marlin or flash Klipper.

  • Ahh man that's a pain, my old notebook has no sata and only 32gb of emmc (which I'm tempted to remove and add a larger chip), but it's only being used for my 3D printer so it's not really a pressing need yet.
