  • Ente.io is working on a desktop app. Whilst its experimental, you can get it from the releases page on their github

  • Yeah that's the function, playing around with it would still be fun though? Especially data mining and seeing what else there is apart from the LAM server leak.

  • If you look at the roadmap they have in the blogpost, they are apparently planning tighter integration with the existing bitwarden suite

  • To those that are confused about this:

Bitwarden does indeed handle TOTP directly in the password manager, but only on paid accounts and only logged in.

This is a completely offline app, separate from your existing Bitwarden account, that is entirely free.

It might serve as an alternative to e.g Aegis to some.

  • the Voice Server Backend is basically done, currently there's ongoing re-works of the desktop client (limited demo at https://revolt.chat/app IIRC), as well as closed betas for iOS and Android native apps.

There's also a slew of Third-Party Clients and an open Client-Server API.

Just remember that this project is built by people in their free time, not a VC-Backed company.

  • They've actually ran adverts at the border of sweden telling politicians and alike that were going there to vote on IIRC ChatControl to vote against it

Mullvad is probably the best example of using ads for something good

  • Yes, JavaScript injection tests come back with extra code when opened from within instagram.

  • doesn't mean it's not running Android, they just cannot use it for marketing/branding 🥴

  • so, the context is deporting people to gain votes, is that right???

  • They've started basing the version number in Lawnchair off of the Stock Android Launcher versions they are basing on.

  • You cannot put Firefox' search widget down there. That is the point they're making

  • what disgusting justification do they have this time?

  • yeah it's quite disappointing, I wish Matrix saw some more (individual!) funding

(organisations that have funded Matrix in the past generally want new features, but not core work on Matrix to make the experience any better 🥴)

  • WhatsApp does use the Signal protocol, but unlike Signal only applies it to Messages, Calls and Status.

Your profile info, who you're talking to, when you're using the service, groups you're in, channels you're following and much more is left unprotected intentionally.

For instance, Signal sends your profile end-to-end-encrypted instead of leaving it freely accessible on servers.

  • RCS itself is an open standard (kind of), but Google Messages is literally the only RCS Client

There are no others. Like seriously you can barely find another usable RCS Client

  • okay, so, the idea was initially to build something akin to SMS/MMS in the way it's used but make it more ready for the modern age

    just a couple of problems:

    • End-To-End-Encryption isn't officially a part of RCS itself thanks to Telcom companies in the US not being allowed to add that
    • Google Messages is literally the only way to use RCS right now.
    • It's "open"-ness is quite disputed due to Google's control over it

really, we should either be using Matrix, or at the very least build out XMPP into something more modern.

  • Yes, in large public channels there can sometimes be ads. These used to be contextual, but they aren't anymore.
