  • It sounds like you want a rolling release distribution. Which means the software repository will have versions close to upstream, or the latest versions shortly after they hit. There's plenty of those.

The best entry level rolling release distribution is, in my opinion, EndeavourOS. It is based on Arch Linux, but provides a fully working desktop out of the box. It grants you a package manager with a rolling release repository.

Next up would be Arch Linux. Similar to above, but it comes with a minimal system and you have to explicitly install most applications that aren't required to boot and start a terminal-only session, including your desktop environment.

Next up would be either gentoo or nixos. But I feel like the other two will cover your bases so I won't talk about those unless you want me to.

  • You made good money because of guilt tripping people into tipping 20% instead of demanding your employer pays you, and crying on social media about how waiters make almost nothing.

The entire reason people tip is out of sympathy, and restaurant workers really weaponized that. Instead of having trouble with your employer not paying you, you joined forces with them.

For the record I tip reasonably, but I find it crazy that restaurant workers do this.

  • A lot of the comments don't fit your criteria. Everyone is just recommending the distro they like. Which is fine, but they should at least say that.

I personally don't have a good answer either. Most my experience is in minimal distros that let you built out those components yourself. It may be worth considering that option (in which case, Arch is a natural next step), but you have to explicitly install wayland / flatpak / kde / etc to fit your criteria.

  • I posted a bunch in this community before it surged in June / July. I still comment moderately here, and read comment threads moderately.

Overall I'm not super active. I would just watch my regular feed and comment threads like I currently do, and if I see something uncivil, I'll intervene. So if I am chosen, it would be ideal to have other mods as well, as I may not be enough on my own.

  • Homophobia is not a religion-only issue. There are many LGBT hate crimes happening all over the world and all the time. The world in its entirity has failed LGBT, and to single out Muslims or Christians is to ignore those issues happening in other places.

  • I like exploring and learning about innovative software.

Sometimes, I don't know about a problem until I find its solution. For example, before ever using the terminal seriously, I never felt I had any problem working with my computer. Nonetheless, the terminal world has given me a lot of enjoyment and solved a lot of problems around navigating a computer and working with it.
