Absolutely. The way housing is treated as a financial investment vehicle instead of a basic human right is disgusting. Unless it turns a profit, there are no incentives to build social housing in this system. Or to build larger units, if instead you can build and sell more smaller ones.

What do you mean? The subsidy is still there. Every vote is 2$ to the party you vote for. For example, I know in my riding that the liberals are certain to win. So I voted NDP so they can have my 2$ at least.

I'm kind of on the fence with your opinion. Living in Montreal I've seen some old broken down neighbourhoods being turned into new condominium cities, but without enough city/social planning. (Griffintown) This caused incredible problems for the local infrastructure, commerce, and services. Sewers, aqueducts, electricity, roads, public transports, kindergartens, schools, medical clinics, etc. The concentration of people increased too much, too fast.

Instead, I think we need to increase density slowly, but spread it out over the city. Not everyone needs to live in 300 sq ft closets downtown. Having smaller apartment buildings with 4/5 storeys replacing old duplexes and triplexes in adjacent neighborhoods, with units that are better adapted to family life with several rooms and enough space to move around could be even more beneficial. And include social housing mixed in with regular housing would have a positive impact as well. But, that's a pretty Montreal-specific scenario. I know in Toronto it's very different and their needs are different, for example.

Damn right. Who the fuck are we to tell them what to do with their land and their nation? That's entirely up to them.

And heck, I'm Québécois and I know that Québec is a distinct nation and it should have a right to self determination. It would be hypocritical to deny the same right to the first nations of this country, who were there first, whose lands were stolen, and have suffered so much injustice. So let them choose and be done with it.

Probably because they won't risk getting arrested for providing any care to women who are having problems with their pregnancy? Or for providing healthcare to anyone intersex or trans? I dunno I didn't read the article, but those would be my biggest concerns as an American doctor.

Ok, coming back to your post... In Québec there us a huge video game industry. There are many studios here, both huge companies and independent.

A couple of my favourite companies are Tribute games who are behind Mercenary Kings, the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles beat 'em up and Panzer Paladin. And also Sabotage Studio who are behind The Messenger and Sea of Stars, which is an amazing action RPG inspired by Chrono Trigger.
