  • Definitely dont bother with buying a pi if you've got other hardware.

I have one physical (a 3b I had no use for anymore), and two running as containers. The containers do most of the heavy lifting, since they are so much faster than a pi they respond far faster, but the physical is nice for when I take down the clusters for maintenance (or when I lose power, the clusters shut down after about 3 minutes, the pi will keep going for a while on UPS).

  • Ive got 16gb in the work-provided machine... And I can safely say that more than half is just autostart crap.

Since I only use it for messaging/email, I don't much care tbh. Just kind of a fun to note for the laughs though.

  • Thats because of office I believe, since its using edge underneath.

Ah, the edgewebview2 crash. So consistent, so destructive.

This is why I'm glad I mostly just use it for teams, everything else is pretty much ssh from my main workstation (debian).

  • Because its the opposite actually. Circumcision reduces risk, inclusive of STIs as well as UTIs. Its a significant, but partial, reduction in risk. This has only been shown with PiV sexual activity and not with PiA sexual activity, which could be an important factor.

    https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8579597/

Adult circumcision works out well, including for a family member who did it in his 30s due to severe phimosis (which is also linked to penile carcinoma).

I think the only appropriate answer to circumcision is not at birth, only for a clear medical need until they are an adult, and at that point it's their decision.

But I doubt you'll find anything peer reviewed that suggests an increase in STIs after circumcision, I've only ever seen the opposite, and I did a lot of reading on it before my son was born.

  • The mods from 196 tried to forcibly move everyone to 196 on Lemmy.world because they personally disagreed with Ada's approach.

They locked the comm and pinned a post about it.

So during that time (while they continued arguing that "let the discussion happen" and "teach the controversy" but "we still totally support queer folks despite trying to move to an instance where shitty behavior is acceptable, and briefly had an admin level rule they are 'reworking' where it would explicitly be against terms to delete that hateful content"...

!onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone then opened up as a new comm.

196 on blahaj was reopened, and unfortunately many folks still land there because of the name.

Personally I refuse to trust any of the mods on 196 (.world or on blahaj) because:

    • The move was forced
    • There was no discussion prior
    • They only backtracked when onehundredninetysix took off
    • Their entire reasoning for the move was based off "we dont have accounts on blahaj and reporting is complicated" and "we want to moderate differently than what's permitted on blahaj".

Sorry that was kind of a long-winded summary.

Edit: there are threads at both!fediverselore@lemmy.ca and !yepowertrippinbastards@lemmy.dbzer0.com iirc that will show the whole story.

  • I was curious what firm, looks like he is the founder of Madison Park Capital Advisors.

Disturbingly, he was VP of the Public Justice Foundation.

He also was the CFO for UN Peacekeeping where he developed a school for young women in Gaza. I'd say this should be investigated, but with Israel doing a genocide, who knows if those ladies are around to tell their story.

He's also been involved with the Bronx Opera Children's program.... So seems like something else that should be looked into.

  • Terrible, I unfortunately don't do a great impersonation of being all about the genocide.

That said, if there were any direct contact information, while I would expect individuals to be ignored, a large amount of direct response would be visible. I've already used the contact form, and have my letter written to go out today (not as concise as yours, so I may tweak it).

Just trying to find every avenue possible.

  • Such a wild time... I started building PCs for people (even my gym teacher), it was so fun - and yeah, such a huge jump every time!

Now I have the same build for nearly 15 years with upgrades along the way, and my servers are all decom'd t/m/m PCs.

    Edit: Jump had a typo

  • 100%.

It's nothing short of support for the behavior. Its why I constantly comment of Lemmy.world being trash, and why I say 196 mods are garbage and don't belong on blahaj, long live !onehundredninetysix@lemmy.blahaj.zone.

Even suggesting that sort of vile nonsense is worth discussing/voting on makes them bigoted morons.

Edit: Sorry I sound cranky about it, but this "tEaCh tHe CoNtRoVeRsY" garbage puts me in a cranky mood.
