  • GNU make is confusing as hell and shouldn't be used in today's world.

  • .. why? All of this is more / less public information about you? Even if you defederate, they could crawl and get all of this info (except maybe ip).

  • This article is garbage. It never says what the expected change even is. Like is it 5 years? Idk since it never says.

  • Could someone ELI5 the problem and what's going on? (I don't have good enough internet to watch videos ATM)

  • I read this and thought: if someone wants a boob job: okie.

  • Consider Photoshop Elements for a similar UI and one time payment to use forever.

  • Windows over Linux based OSes. The support (albeit via mass adoption) is much better. I can run almost any old software, including games. Plug in anything that's plug and play and not worry about driver compatibility. Things tend to just work and I'm not one accidental sudo away from wrecking the whole OS.

I just disable ads, put a custom start menu in place, and I'm golden.

I'm not saying Windows doesn't have issues, but for me personally it's likely far less than a Linux OS.

  • The fact that large instances hit more downtime than something like reddit will always be a detriment.

  • I mean you could start a competitor. So could anyone. Only a company like Google can afford to keep losing money on something like YouTube.

Funny thing is I wouldn't want the content to be decentralized. It's nice to find all my crap in one place; and let a big company waste money to serve it.

  • I got married last week. Before meeting this person I never thought there would be someone for me. Anyways if you want to be single thats fine. If you don't: try putting yourself out there and ya never know what'll happen.

  • I don't think this would do very much for your privacy.

For spoofing a user agent: The server could easily get your ip address which likely says more about you than a user agent. The user agent says almost nothing about you: just the name of the client doing the request.

For proxying image requests, you could gain something similar by using a VPN. It all comes down to trust. If you trust the end instances at the start, you don't need to proxy requests, if you trust a vpn you can do that instead as a trust barrier. Sync being a proxy doesn't make sense to me and could cost a lot to do properly with low latency, etc.

That's just my thoughts, not that of the ljdawson.

  • You should have seen my last job.

  • Yep. Was C++.

  • My backup cam makes it easy to know how far to go in. Much easier for me than figuring out the front distance.

  • This is kind of nonsensical. I used to have to build code on Ubuntu 10.04 so that it would work on 10.04. if I tried to build on 18.04 I would get glibc errors. (Yes I know it was too old, but marketing insisted we support it).

I can still target Windows XP for builds on Windows 10 today.

  • Remember that people have said GPT4 is getting dumber because of interacting with humans.

  • You have duplicate communities, posts, etc.

    It's hard to find communities.

  • There is a pizza place. We once went in to order food. There was no food, no menu, no drinks. We stood there and asked for a menu. They looked at us like we were nuts. We turned around and left.

  • I personally wish he would just say 'vote for me and I'll cancel your loans' or something.

Why do only Republicans play dirty?

  • This bugs me too. There are various GitHub issues about grouping communities. As far as I know, no one has gotten to 'em yet.
