  • You're right. When you put it like that, calling it obscure sounds like an exaggeration. Though it's probably one of the least spoken Slavic languages.

  • I fully agree with you about having real conversations with real people. The thing is, you need some confidence before being able to speak the language, especially to native speakers. And for some people that comes with a bit of practice by themselves. Thats what I find apps like Duolingo help with.

  • You see, one of the goals is to be able to enjoy media in English together. The problem is that she quickly gives up after encountering too many unfamilliar words or constructs.

Thats why I'm looking for an app to help her get a bit more confident.

  • That's what we've been trying so far, but unfortunately it does not work for her.

  • Just took the test for myself and it looks very promising. Thanks!

  • I thought I shouldn't doxx myself so much, but whatever. Our native language is Bulgarian.

@alokir@lemmy.world (is that how I tag people?)

  • I guess you can use wormhole to transport the data to your peer, and if you're extra paranoid encrypt it asymmetrically with something like age.

Then again you can just encrypt it with age and send it over Signal. There should be no risk involved in sharing public keys even if you don't trust their servers.

  • Fourth. I loved it so much when I was younger that it influenced my main username.

  • Probably offtopic, but are there any popular old android tablets that run linux proper?

  • I'm sorry for the stupid question, but I looked at both the websites of Rocky and Alma, and still cant quite figure out what does "Enterprise grade" distro mean.

They talk about stability, but Debian is stable too, yet it's not "enterprise".

    Can anyone ELI5?

  • Why not name them? Personally, I'm most disappointed in r/cyberpunk. They kind of proved they are all about neon lights.

  • You're probably right. I should go check out the source at some point.

  • Unfortunately because of the digital spedometer, the analog one usually suffers.

My mid-2010s c-class has an analog spedometer which is absolutely useless as it does not have a full needle and the fonts, spacing and colors are made to blend in with the interior instead of being readable.

All this makes me use the digital one, which is very distracting and usually lagging behind, especially when quickly accelerating.

  • Isn't Hot supposed to work like that? When it's not broken, of course.

I feel like some simple algorithm like the ones used in dithering may be used to mix up the feed.

  • Well, imho, at least half of r/antiwork posts were escapist fiction of how one should have replied to their manager.

  • I'm not rrleally sure how calash clients work, but maybe you can sync them manually with something like Syncthing.

  • While you're absolutely correct, in my personal experience Manjaro has been perfectly stable even with somewhat heavy use of the AUR.

  • To be honest it's possible they're not joking.

Linux mint is insanely user friendly, to the point where my father istalled it by himself as his first linux distro long after the first symptoms of dementia appeared and used it for years.

  • Exactly. Mate tried emulating this behaviour, but it wasn't very successful.

As far as I know Ubuntu had to patch a lot of packages to make it work properly. I guess no one has the manpower to do that for such a niche feature.
