for that I need to know gui codding and code the program it self, in terminal I just tie a few commands together and be done with it.

That's where alises and script's come in, I can make a 20 click's process in a gui be a single character command in the terminal.

Atleayt they should make the setting to enter a slower updating channel user friendly. That's how I used before, with slower updated channel and deffering feature updates for a year and making security updates install on saturday's when I don't have to use my pc for productive tasks.

I can type at 100wpm, its a lot faster do just run a couple of programs than open a heavy gui program and try to find the correct button to type.

there is always fdisk, the tui parition manager.

I'm just faster in the terminal than a gui

I don't have a homelab ( space contrains ) but I do have 2 vps that I use to host in total 13 docker containers, mail server and an xmpp server.

Edit: My lemmy server is also hosted on them.

What I'm more interesting in is what is it that you selfhost to have so many docker containers?

Only way to opt out or chanhe the settings to be better isby either policy edutor or registry editing, both not user frkendly.

Windows by default forces updates upon you and makes itbhard to disable them. Or make them ask you for updates.

I had an update take 3 and half hours on a 2019 laptop with a ryzen 5 3550h, 16gb of ddr4 ram and an nvme ssd.

So I moves to gentoo where if unlucky and qtwebengine needs to comiplie the update takes 5+ hours. 😌

I have been using contabo for over a year and had 2 outages when they had some problems last month.

For the webinterface I don't care since I do everywhing in the cli amd don't mind a bad interface.

Not at all, for me and couple friend's that use I can easilly run it on a 1core 1gbram vps.

There is actually a lot more search engines that you might think, plus there are privacy frontends for them you can aggregate.

Edit: Also the main poin't of searxng is to use it as a proxy for them which hepps if you use an instance with multiple users, or host an instance for you and your friends for example.

This is why I have been using aselfhosted searxng instance for over a year and half now.

Only take note from official lineage os site on compatibility.

You could try divest os or /e/ project.

You could also try getting stock android on the device which doesn't have any google services ( android by itself is free and open source after all.
