  • I'm very curious to see if the counter tariffs from China will lead to a complete escalation or if the orange clown will cry about it and back off. I hope it's the second but I fear the worst, I think a total crash out is in the cards.

  • I'm kind of on the border between Gen Z and a millennial (1994) so I enjoy brainrot content but going out to go axe throwing or going to an escape room and having some drinks sounds amazing too. I wish I had friends to do that with :(

  • Let's see if this actually happens or if people just put themselves in more debt. If there's one thing the systems in America are good at, it's preying on the poorer people by making all kinds of ways to still buy things and dig holes for yourself by loaning or credit cards.

Most of the family I know on my girlfriend's side that's been complaining about the prices going up haven't done much more than that, complaining and slowly creeping up their credit card debt.

  • I'd hope that that happens but in my experience a lot of people just bitch about stuff being more expensive while spending money on it anyway (I've done this before as well). And that sends a wrong signal because then others start doing it too. Just look at all the major streaming platforms and their account sharing crackdowns. So many people crying about it and the end result was still record profits for those companies.

  • I think the fact that you have such a polarized society where states are "red" or "blue" and have such different policies and views on things make it difficult to function as 1 country. Of course this has always been the case to a certain extent but nowadays it feels a lot more rabid then before. Knowing how much democrats like being pushovers nothing will probably happen (for the good of the country or some bullshit) but I do hope that more and more of these protest style things keep happening and that Trumps authority keeps withering away.

  • Okay, so if the uncertainty about tariffs are a factor in the price then why aren't the consoles cheaper everywhere outside the US? If you look at it, they're (taking exchange rates into consideration) even more expensive elsewhere. In Europe, it's €450 which translates to almost 500 dollars. And Europe is not even the worst one, the homies in Canada and Australia are getting screwed even harder.

I think it's more or less just a cash grab. They know people will buy it even at this premium price and they don't care if they lose some sales. The increase is so big that even if you lose some sales, you'll make more money in the end anyway. It's gross.

  • It's gonna be interesting to see how this pans out, there's a good chance the console and games will be VERY expensive in the US by the time they come out if Japan and the US get into a tariff - counter tariff spat.

  • Lol do people really think a simple term limit is gonna stop him? The only thing that'll stop him is if his companies go to shit so much that he either has to focus on them or go bankrupt. Besides, I feel like him focusing on the companies might honestly be a bad thing for them, he doesn't have the best track record in charge.

  • When I grew up I used to love fireworks at new years here in the Netherlands. However, now that I'm older and more importantly, no longer live in the same neighborhood, I've grown a big dislike of them.

A big part of this is the vandalism and carelessness that people have. I literally have to move my car elsewhere to prevent it from potentially getting set on fire by some of our neighbors, who get super drunk and then set off fireworks and don't take care of the leftovers, which often catch fire. They also moved fireworks to a patch of shrubs and trees before and if it wasn't for me calling the cops and the weather being somewhat wet they could've set a whole area on fire. It's absolutely ridiculous. Fortunately, there seems to be more and more support for a ban here. The only problem is that it'll be very hard to uphold it after such a long tradition of having fireworks. They already banned some of the heavier stuff before and it never worked, people still had it. Hopefully it'll be different this time.

  • They more or less did that here in the Netherlands. Once the government let go, things slowly started getting worse and we're now at the point where I'd say things are expensive, occasionally sporty and suboptimal...

  • I fully agree with you, sadly some world leaders benefit way more from dividing and isolating.

The only way forward as the human race in the long term will either be as 1 people (the UN is a good step towards this but clearly not enough) or as a post apocalyptic shattered, severely diminished population. Sadly it's looking more and more like it'll be the second one...
