And dont forget, we are on Lemmy. Everything that's somewhat conservative gets bullied out quite fast. C/conservative started as a legit community and got turned into a meme community. I think this speaks for itself.

It might not be possible to spend this amount of money for one simple reason. Germany has a so called "debt break" which means, that, in theory, Germany isn't allowed to increase its debt. This is written in the construction, so to change this you need 2/3 of the parliament to agree. Now comes the real problem, our leftist party and the AfD make up over 1/3 of the parliament so it isn't possible without them and both parties don't want to increase military spending.
