  • AFAIK no one knows anything about what happened to the old admin (he was called wintermute). The only thing that everyone knows is, that he went to south Asia and was expecting to not have internet access at all times. If someone would have known anything furthet I'm pretty sure I would have heard about it. You can find all the instances the fediverse foundation hosts here (German): https://fediverse.foundation/instanzen/. The thing with the multiple Admins is something known by the people. I know two people who are Admins ( @ZonenRanslite@feddit.org and @BurningTurtle@feddit.org the first one was one of the people who was very invested in the creation of this instance), but I guess there are more and of course the fediverse foundation itself.

  • The universe created Feddit.org

Actually Feddit.org is only a follow up instance. Originally there was an instance called Feddit.de, which was basically the same as Feddit.org. however, last year the only admin travelled to south-asia and went missing. To this day no one knows what happened to him. In his absence the pictrs box of the instance overflowed causing image uploads to not work anymore. As time goes on the instance started to get more and more unreliable. It started getting downtimes, federation didnt work anymore. After months of seeing the instance degrade the community started to take matters into the own hands and create a new instance. However it was clear, that there shouldn't be a single admin in order to not have the same problem as before. After some time where we considered creating an own association to care for the instance we decided, to instead hit up the "Fediverse foundation" which are now hosting Feddit.org

  • No one fucks with the Germans on r/place

  • Where is "changing the file type extension" in the name?

  • Saw that one too. Still have to laugh about them thanking god for "creating this power point presentation". Funniest shit I could ever th8nk about.

  • ACH so.

  • Its not about all users on ml, but about the quite big (or very loud) group of ml users being tankies. This phenomenon is so wide spread, that in most cases when you see a tankie somewhere they are usually coming from ml.

  • Next fun fact: Its more likely to get killed by a coconut dropping onto your head than to die in a shark attack.

  • Maybe a bit worse than the rest

  • Main problem is, that it will either be a giant sausage party or you have to male it a gay/queer dating app.

  • It is like you said. Its artificial value. Its value generated, by how much people are willing to pay for a share of it. And as you rightfully realised, its basically gambling. You can make predictions based on the current trend (what ever trend it may be),but its still gambling.

  • We will see how bad it will actually become and if it can match 2008 levels.

  • In terms of where the money foes its quite easily. The majority will just evaporate. A lot of people and company's may shift their invested money to European (or somewhere else) companys whichay rise a bit in value, but the majority of the money is just gone. The value of a company is a mix of how profitable they are and a lot of how much people think a company will be profitable in the future and therefore are investing into it (its like the typical production and demand thing. If more people want to buy something it rises in value).

  • That made me laugh way to hard.

  • OK, the main difference for me is, that I live in a rural area so after like 8pm its quite unlikely that you will see anyone while walking home. Especially not in the night and especially not a cop.

  • Gonna be honest, this is absolutely fun. Especially when you are either stoned or drunk.

  • Living in the countryside be like. You have to chose between walking or alternatively driving home with your also intoxicated friend. I devinetively did both, but usually the second because my ass was lazy.

In my defence: It was always in the middle of the night only through back roads and only like 6km or something like that. Hes also a professional stoner, and hes used to driving while being somewhat high. I would not recommend doing it, but it is the downside of living in the countryside.
