  • Total tech iliterate here. Was the cpu or the gpu that was not supported? I thought and gpus were better supported than Nvidia?

  • What is graphics driver ppa?

  • I am planning on getting the GTX 5070. Will discuss with my computer pusher tomorrow though. Had asked him for a 4070 but he said they don't make those any more

  • AMD Ryzen 9000X, 32GB DDR5 ram (6000mhz), 2TB SSD nvme, ASROCK B650M pro RS AM5 4xDDR5 PSU 850W. Not sure about the GPU yet, but i am inclined to go with the GTX 5070

  • “I know you have not been feeling great but it’s good to see you in better health,” Mr. Vance told the pope, according to video footage of the visit

  • How about the fact that humans live all across the world, even in places where you don't really have lightnings?

Wouldn't we have to compare the number of humans hit by lightning, only in the areas where giraffes live?

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Distribution_of_lightning

The articles only compares to humans in the US... This is very unscientific especially comming from this media!

  • Thanks for the tips!
Can you explain examples of what FreeCAD is lacking at, compared to the pro software? I am not sure what I am going into, but would hate to limit myself or waste time/money just by making the wrong choice at this point

  • I believe that most, if not all of the ones that i listed, should be free, or at least have a very useful free version. Freecad I have heard a lot of though, and I see a lot of video tutorials on it, so it would be a good option!

  • The country of origin in that case is the last country in which the product significantly changed value from being manufactorered locally and it requires a facility to do so. Slapping a sticker on something is not enough.

My point is, that there is indeed a significant change, when parts are put together into a product. In the case of almost 150% tariffs, I am sure that this would be an attractive solution.

I am not looking for a loophole. Just stating the obvious and trying to understand how the USA handles these challenges. Slapping tariffs on countries seems naive, when globalization has intertwined every country into each other. Especially when it comes to trade and production

  • Inconvenient (for the world) at best, devastating (for the USA) at worst

  • So basically Chinese companies could ship prosucts in parts to neighbouring countries for assembly and they'd be sellable in the USA?

  • How do the tarrifs actually work? Are they applied on all shipments from China or on any Chinese product shipped from anywhere?

  • Not without going completely off the grid no. But there is a big difference from that, and actively using their services or even paying them money.

Simply privacy tools will anonymize your use of the internet, but actively avoiding the use of any google services, is the first big step

  • I don't see it as impossible at all. But it is indeed inconvenient and may even cost some money.

But if it was as straightforward as just changing the TV channel, everyone would have done it already.

Having values and acting on them does cost. It is when we are willing to cope with those costs (financial or/and practical) that we stand our ground. Not when we don't feel it. In that case it would just be a logical choice.

  • I'm mostly using herewego. I believe that I tried mappy but it didn't have traffic updates for my region? Not sure 🤔 I went through so many!

  • I know! For me, the hardest part was Google photos, that i eventually replaced with ente. But there is a reason why they have a market monopoly. By definition, it makes it difficult to find alternatives. But its possible!

I now only use them when Qwant does not give satisfying results. Kagi is good too, although i have recently replaced it with qwant.
