  • Yep.

A few games overdo it, and a decent number don't really use it, but when games do, especially with the precision vibration, the feedback provides a crazy amount of information without overwhelming the screen with it.

  • I hate this. I'd be perfectly fine with network bullshit if it was a universal standardized profile so it actually worked (and I could build a programmable physical remote for it) . But the App Store is flooded with "android TV remotes" that maybe support one specific obscure (unlabeled) TV. I've never found one that works for anything I've owned.

  • Recently: a friend bugged me until I finally got around to Red Rising

I haven't actually read the series, because it's heavy and I wanted to let it breathe a little. It's dark, and the first one has kind of a feudal setting for most of the book I can't explain without spoiling it, but it's a ride. I always listen to audiobooks at 2x and had to go back and listen to the closing song at regular speed to get the full impact of the emotion.

  • What if the battery is doing something hinky enough to cause very minor interference and the internal cable is close enough to be affected by it? I'm not super familiar with the low level details of battery tech but I think it could theoretically be possible (though obviously would be stupid rare).

  • Yes, they are. That's what exclusive means.

Only being on one platform because no other platform makes business sense is not an exclusive. An exclusive means an exclusivity contract.

But even if you lie and pretend your version is an "exclusive", it absolutely is not "steam playing the exclusive game", because that unconditionally would require steam actively incentivizing staying off of other platforms.

  • Given the scope of this project (a non-commercial free mod), I would honestly not judge them harshly for a much poorer response. It's not their job; if they took a couple days to notice during the holiday season, then weren't able to say much more than "we think you're fucked if you have this mod installed", a lot of harm might be done, and they'd definitely see a lot of criticism, but I'd understand. For a small team that don't do security, especially one who aren't even selling their product, getting hacked has the potential to be extremely overwhelming, and you very possibly don't have the expertise or resources to investigate properly.

Instead, they put a bunch of real companies to shame. (Some of those companies have breaches that are a lot more complex in scope, but still.)

  • No, steam isn't "also involved" in paying publishers to take their games off of other platforms.

Steam "exclusives" exist because every other platform is too dogshit to bother making a business relationship with.

  • Excluding some of the smaller point and shoots, which are still more volume than most phones, DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras are way bigger than phones for a reason. It's because that's what it takes to take actual high quality pictures without cheating heavily with processing.
