Also, I'm quitting tomorrow and you're in charge of MysteryTool maintenance. I'd start by upgrading the .NET version, that baby's still running on Framework 4.5!
As discussed previously, browsers are quite complex and so adding a new feature (subtitles) is actually adding several features, on top of existing features (video player) that aren't really (arguably) core to the web experience.
(I think olds like me want to believe the web is still "for" text and static images, but the majority of users today are (allegedly) all-in on video.)
Anyway, what sub-features make up "simple" subtitles? Oh the usual: where are they sourced? What format? What language? What encoding? (Utf8 one can only pray) Left to right support? Asian character support? What font are you using? System fonts? Are they widely supported? Does any of it work on mobile? Who holds the relevant patents? Etc.

Take a shower and dress nicely first, before asking and before the date. Try just doing it everyday. Pay for everything, never look at prices for more than a second, if at all. In this way, you will communicate that you have disposable income and are willing and able to consider another person's happiness, if even momentarily, which will put you far ahead of most men in the running.

My recollection is that Sigma male was originally a joke to belittle people that really believed in that bad-wolf-study idea of Alpha and Beta males. Shortly after taking "alpha male" seriously became a meme, listicles and memes started popping up about the secret, even more powerful Sigma variant. Since it has truly no basis in science, I figured sigma was a joke pull from either Six Sigma or maybe even the villain from Megaman X. Now I'm curious if research will find anything on the origins, I need to do some digging.
Anyway, it all gets immediately much funnier when Ligma males come onto the scene shortly after.

Human beings are not proscriptive. A "gay" "man" is a human being with biological characteristics typical of human males, who acts in a manner society describes as masculine, and who feels attraction towards similar sexes and genders of people.
If that person is forced into sex with a person they don't feel desire for, I dunno, that's some kind of thought-experiment rape. If a "gay" "man" has sex with a "lesbian" "woman" and it's consensual for both of them then they are both, by a descriptive measure of what acts have occurred, bisexual people, who have just engaged in heterosexual coitus.
That's assuming that both of them have engaged in homosexual acts before of course. By the nature of this thought experiment, they both could be people who self-describe as such without actually having done it.
They are free to consider themselves whatever they want, because self-descriptions of people are always based more on aspirations and desires than facts. Lots of billionaires consider themselves good humanitarians, and lots of straight people have suppressed homosexual desires. People are complex, contradictory, and our language falls behind in accurately describing reality.

Literally have a dozen other tabs open about how to embed a WASM engine into my Rust game. At least I'm not (currently, at this time, right now) writing my own language or trying to embed a prolog engine.
Objects don't "have" colors either, if we're being pedantic. They reflect/absorb/transmit/emit different combinations of wavelengths. So "pink" objects just reflect some wavelengths that we classify as in the range of "red" and "blue". Color is an interaction between emission, detection, and the brain's interpretation.
Its not even a unique trick. The ears combine various wavelengths of air vibrations to create sound, with combinations of pure waves merging into distinct timbres (sometimes called "tonal color").

A "peer" in bittorrent is someone else who is downloading the same file as you. This is opposed to a "seeder" which is also a peer but is only sending data, no longer receiving.
You don't have to finish the file to share it though, that's a major part of bittorrent. Each peer shares parts of the files that they've partially downloaded already. So Meta didn't need to finish and share the whole file to have technically shared some parts of copyrighted works. Unless they just had uploading completely disabled, but they still "reproduced" those works by vectorizing them into an LLM. If Gemini can reproduce a copyrighted work "from memory" then that still counts.
Now, to be clear, fuck Meta but also fuck this argument. By the same logic, almost any computer on the internet is guilty of copyright infringement. Proxy servers, VPNs, basically any compute that routed those packets temporarily had (or still has for caches, logs, etc) copies of that protected data.
I don't think copyrights and open global networks are compatible concepts in the long run. I wonder which the ruling class will destroy first? (Spoilers, how "open" is the internet anymore?)
When you play a "brass" style instrument (trumpet, tuba, trombone, didgeridoo, vuvuzela, etc) you don't just blow into it, you press your lips together like for a kiss, and then buzz them. If you do a small, very fast and tight buzz, you get high pitched notes. If you do a looser, flappier buzz, you get low notes. Most people can get about 3 to 5 notes this way, which is why most brass instruments have slides or valves to adjust the airflow and change the note further.
Funny enough for calling this a sax-hybrid, saxophones and other woodwind instruments use a small piece of flat wood called a reed to create the vibrations needed for notes. These mostly only make one note though, which is why sax, flute, clarinet, and so on need so many buttons.
The YouTube algorithm has been real weird lately. It suggested a video to me and I had no idea why until now. I watch a lot of Doom stuff, so it wasn't off base, I just didn't have context for it.
It's Coincident (the streamer this is about) commenting over a "lost" demo of Okuplok playing the map themselves. Spoiler: they do not finish it! But it was neat hearing Coincident discuss his own strategies for the map in comparison to how the creator (allegedly) approached it.

Physically Based Rendering (the freely available book) won its authors a special Academy award in 2014. That book is still the teaching standard for ray tracing so far as I know. In the intro, they discuss Pixar adding ray tracing (based on pbrt) to their RenderMan software in the early 2000s.
A Bugs Life and TS2 could have benefit from some of that, but I'd guess Monsters Inc was the first full outing for it, and certainly by Nemo they must have been doing mostly ray tracing.
