Yeah some very good reads in this thread, cool to see everyone actually having a conversation instead of contrarianism left and right (some of that here... but not as much). I think I was pretty clear, but some people seem to think I meant that you shouldn't change your lifestyle.
I meant that we should be holding those companies accountable in conjunction with making personal changes. ¯(ツ)_/¯
I mean, if they're going to continue maintaining it and adding features I think they're entitled to price it how they want. Buy it or don't. Other apps will come and prices will probably fluctuate accordingly once more come out and there are more users actually buying the app.
Also, Lemmy does not work exactly like Reddit under the hood. I'm sure a lot of work went into reworking it for Lemmy.
Woah, seems like I started something. I specifically said there was nothing wrong with doing your part, but that we shouldn't forget it's not our fault.
That's not really what I was referring to. Sure it selects posts automatically but it's not like it picks what it thinks a specific user is going to click on.
Yes. It is very important otherwise people might get very uncomfortable being around you. That creates barriers when making friends, getting jobs, etc. One other thing - deoderant is not the same as antiperspirant and vice versa. Use both.
Hi! Trans person here. Your heart is in the right place, but this post is poorly written. You haven't even given examples of how this is currently/could be applied. Some people are just that uneducated about trans people. If they're leading questions that invalidate us, sure. But otherwise what's the harm? For 196 there's no reason to ask about that stuff but the whole instance?? Your call in the end but I can think of a few ways this could go bad just from prior experience in other communities.
