It doesn't work, on Lemmy block is nothing more than a mute, and the instance "block" (mute) does not even affect the individual users of an instance, just hides the comms of that instance from your view

Lemmy's "block" still leaves you open to all manner of brigading that they've been known to do

And it still allows conspiracy theories, propaganda and misinformation to spread and fester and affect users who are unaware

They literally have articles over there spreading the Russian propaganda that Putin is justified in invading Ukraine because it's "full of Nazis"

Besides this is the Threadiverse, there will always be an instance with wide federation if you as an individual choose to open yourself up to that kind of "content"

If you want to pull people to your political side, then you can do so without relying on misinformation and conspiracy theories. Which is unfortunately not what the admins of .ml have chosen to do.

Be bigger than them. Probably sees your instance as some sort of threat. They always shit on the big instances, I've seen Hex users refer to SJW as "Shit Just Stinks" before and they were celebrating the .ee shutdown. They consider .world some sort of right-wing instance run as a CIA/fed psyop

You go-to lemmy.mls homepage and it looks like a normal "privacy focused" instance. Until you innocently comment in support of Ukraine or something and find yourself being dunked on and banned for supporting a "Nazi regime"

.ml is the "bad actor" in this case for one, and for two, one of those tools is defederation. Nobody is talking about forcing .ml wholly offline.

Grad and hex are perfectly alive even with most of the network defederating from them.

Usually anything where the BIOS can find and boot Grub itself but Grub can't finish the boot chain for whatever reason, like /boot being on a separate partition and your main partition gets corrupted or something

You'd think, but from what I understand the Invidious/YT cat and mouse game is rather intense so the larger public instances often don't work and it's better to use smaller private or personal instances instead

So most who care have opted to just set something up to handle YT links on the fly

Idk, I don't keep track of it I just click the links lemming give me lmao

I do think the last one I tried was peertube.wtf a couple days ago

Videos without audio? Imgur can handle mp4s and imgur links autoplay in the Lemmy apps ive used (Boost and Voyager)

Videos with audio, well really YT is the best place, pretty much anybody who cares about YT tracking/ads/views will have processes/plugins in place to handle YT links. Like there are plugins that will automatically modify a YT link to a designated invidious instance or whatever

If you really really don't want to upload to YT, a Peertube instance is your best bet, unfortunately just don't expect it to be particularly...fast. Every Peertube video I've tried to watch buffered every 10-30 seconds, but I don't blame them, video is very intense, expensive and difficult to handle compared to every other media type
