I had to check and make sure I didn't type the comment above because it sounds exactly like me.
All UIs do things slightly differently, the CLI is always exactly the same... Everywhere. UI for non trivial conflict resolution? Definitely. For everything else, CLI.
And, I'm also reticent to use rebase unless I have to. Gimme that good ole FF :)
I'm a fan as well. I got into the Bluetti brand ecosystem and I'm pretty happy with it. Ecoflow is nice too. I wanted it to be self contained and (somewhat) portable which they do well... Way better than I could DIY without spending a lot more.
I think all reputable brands have switched to LiFePO4 batteries but if anyone is just getting into it - that's the hotness. They last much longer than lion and are less 'splodey.
Pay close attention to the input limits. You can have 2kW of solar but it doesn't matter if your device can only take 200W for charging :)
I'm more curious what the rank and file military would think, being mobilized against their own.
I'd like to think it wouldn't go well as far as obedience. But, I also know a lot of old gray beards that would see that and make life as difficult as possible for them if it did come to pass.
I'm not a conspiracy person by any stretch of the imagination, but have you ever seen rednecks rally for a cause? They HATE being told what to do, and they're... Let's say ingenious when it comes down to it.
... Now I'm realizing that, in context, it could be either side. But I don't see it happening.
Are you using an off the shelf NAS or a DIY? I'm looking for around that much space but the consumer/prosumer grade stuff I've seen doesn't really do what I want (full disk encryption, Linux, ability to customize and host a few applications).
I originally figured I'd just cram 5x12TB drives in a case, RAID5, with my Linux flavor of choice... Then I learned how bad RAID5 is with big disks.
I don't need mirroring or high throughput (home NAS - other device backups and local streaming) but would preferably like a little redundancy... As a treat.
While I agree with the sentiment, it doesn't really pan out for "complete this contract/form if you want to get paid" or "your job requires you to use our internal platform all day every day and we added click tracking to it but aren't smart enough to make the site function when it's blocked"
Occasionally it's caused some problems with the tracking crapware that the spouse's company uses in their web platform. Since they work from home and it breaks the main site they use for work, I've had to add some exceptions.
I've also seen it occasionally cause problems on websites that rely on tracking garbage and outright fail when they're blocked. Usually I just never go there again but in a few cases it's been something I was forced to use so I just disable the pihole for five minutes, do what I need, and hope to never visit that site again.
I think there have been maybe eight of these occurrences in the past five years so it's not a continual annoyance. No big deal and definitely worth it.
I'm guessing the knitting and reloading being the odd ones?
Reloading first. I built a .300 Blackout back when ammo was rare and expensive so I started loading my own (via 5.56 brass conversion) in order to afford to feed it.
Knitting was maybe two years later. The spouse and friends signed up for a knitting class but only told me later. At that point the class was full so I said "fine I'll learn it myself" and here we are. I recently 3d printed a circular knitting machine in an attempt to speed up sock making... still working out the kinks but I have high hopes.
Knitting is very time consuming if you're terrible at it like me :D
I've also got a workshop so building random things is probably my favorite - coming up with the idea is the hard part.
I also have a reloading setup in my shop so I can load my own ammunition. There are so many variables, loads, powders, etc that it can keep me busy for weeks... Especially once you catch the subsonic bug.
I instantly distrust anyone I see open carrying in public. Hunting or on the farm? Sure, makes sense. In the grocery store...ehhh.
The weekend after it became legal here I saw a guy in cut off jean shorts+beater tank with a 22LR Beretta Neo in a drop leg holster at a local diner. I can only assume he's an elite operator.
