I heard someone call my name when I was alone in the house falling asleep while listening to a podcast. Freaked me right the heck out!

I've read a few of these and I know some of the authors' other works - I noted those in my comments.

Personally, I like to browse the used book store and collect books from favorite authors. (Clarke, Asimov, Niven, Campbell( A.K.A. Hemry), and especially Heinlein) I do often grab books based only on their covers, and those will usually be 1960s or 70s books with a crazy spacecraft or a goofy alien on the cover.

I went to a job interview at a financial services company as a young man. There was no interview, just a sales pitch and I was asked to provide the contact info and career (income estimates) of ten people before I could be hired. I think they were selling mortgage refinancing or something. I just got up and left.

My goodness. They gave it more attention than I would have, were I in their place!

Italian had a great presence this year, with their own good song (#5), the unexpectedly fun San Marino (#26) entry, and the fake Italian song from Estonia (#3). I hear Italians were pretty pleased!

I had expected Sweden (#4) or Finland (#11) to win, but my favorites were Albania (#8) and Latvia (#13).

Austria performed really well and I knew the jury would love it, but I only really rooted for him toward the end of voting because the alternative was infuriating.
