  • The people who believe anything an ex-Fox News dope says are largely the same people who get their "facts" from the ex-host of Fear Factor.

  • No. If you want to be useful, convince some other dinosaur Dems to retire.

  • Don't want bad press? Don't do fucked up shit.

    It's not rocket science.

  • The Dems need to do a lot of things. I don't really believe it's possible.

For one, if they continue to be owned by corporations, then no change will happen.

If We The People don't actually have a say in party nominees, no change will happen.

If they keep bending over to "cross the aisle", no change will happen. Stop trying to be the "good guy" and fucking fight for the party platform.

And that platform needs to shift away from the wants of rich liberals. Progressives need a voice.

  • Ah, got it. Thanks.

I took the sentence "From a Republican..." as OP saying they were a Republican who had changed their view (since it isn't really a full sentence... alas).

    Wishful thinking, I guess.

  • You said you thought she was the lesser of two evils. I'm not sure how that is believing Trump's words, as you said in the original post.

  • What period?

Edit: nm, got it. Period in OP.

  • Then how was it that you "believed Trump's words"?

  • Much like Elon Musk's image as a smart man.

  • Edit: apparently the part in OP starting "From a Republican..." is not meant to imply that OP is a Republican. As it lacked a main verb, I assumed it was ultimately meant as a relative clause and misassigned it to "I". Leaving this comment anyway but it doesn't apply to OP.

I appreciate you taking the time to write this post, and I appreciate you noticing this trend.

But I've got to be honest: the writing was on the wall the whole time. Being in the Republican bubble doesn't really change the fact that you only get here from a lack of critical thinking and a general susceptibility to propaganda. These are things that many people spend time and resources getting educated about. It's hard to have sympathy when the whole country is now suffering because so many were so sure they knew better.

If I sound angry, I am. I do hope you take it constructively, but you also need to understand: most of the damage has already been done. It doesn't really matter how you feel from here on out, because the deed (from voters) is done.

  • Unless you're already a citizen, or minimally a permanent resident, you can use it for exactly 90 days per 6-month period.

Work visas allow for longer, but you need corporate sponsorship.

  • Lots of media worried about upsetting the King of America with their reporting

  • Oh, I get that. I guess I'm suggesting there are better options if it's hiding out without an appropriate visa in the woods. It's probably easier in, say, Borneo.

The Japanese government functions and has enforcement of immigration policy.

  • They know. They know when you entered and what kind of visa you carry.

I guess you could hide out in the woods, but... then why be in Japan?

Edit: and if they idea is to hide out in the house that you bought, well... may as well put a sign up that says "check here."

  • There are way more complexities than meet the eye here.

Not the least of which: just buying property doesn't give you a way to extend a visa beyond the normal tourist period (usually 90 days per 6-month period). Japan ultimately is still an isolationist country, and it shows the most in its immigration policies.

  • I used to have a side system with /home on its own partition precisely to learn different distros and setups. It makes it much easier having a partition which is retained.
