  • An airplane flown from a country known for terrible safety standards crashed? Color me shocked.

This from the same country where it's common practice to make plastic poles with wire to attach directly to power lines, weld without welding face masks, use power tools with bare feet or sandals, overload scooters with 3x their load bearing capacity, and much more.

My heart goes out to everyone who lost someone on this flight, but it's sadly not surprising. India really needs to invest in workplace and personal safety, which is going to be a gigantic cultural shift.

  • Poor Seang Chau. They wrote this blog post in a total of three paragraphs, but Google was still like "WOULD YOU LIKE AN AI SUMMARY?" at the top.

Literally took me about 45 seconds to read all of the features, but Google is over here burning down another rainforest to process an AI summary of a three paragraph blog post with three pictures.

  • Your "IP address" is already public. That's why an IPv4 address is assigned to you as a "public IP address" and you NAT to a private space. When using IPv6, everything is public.

The key is to secure everything with access restrictions.

  • "There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people."

    -William Adama, Battlestar Galactica-

  • Sonic Origins used the same engine and basically was like "people seem to like classic Sonic games. Let's make Sonic Mania themed in Genesis era games".

And yet.....they STILL fucked it up. Not as badly as they usually do, mind you, but still.

  • There is no "objective" when talking about subjective terms.

My personal, SUBJECTIVE favorites are Mass Effect, Titanfall 2, Subnautica, Stardew Valley, Ori and the Blind Forest, Dave the Diver, Balatro, and Portal 1 and 2

  • Are you sure about that? You still have to step through a dozen setup screens and forcefully sign into a Microsoft account. Then, you have to update your new computer and reboot 4-5 times to install all updates often sequentially.

Meanwhile, in Linux-land, it installs the latest packages and updates during install when using a net installer.

  • I made the jump two years ago. I started with a 512GB SATA SSD with Windows and then my main drive on Linux.

There aren't any games I play regularly that don't "just work" on Linux, but I also get that can depend on the person. I hope you can get there one day.

    Until then....maybe dual boot?
