I've been off since December 31 and don't need to go back in until Monday so it's been really nice. My husband has this week off too and we've both mostly been playing video games.
I'm planning to give my two weeks' notice next week, then spring semester starts later this month, so this has been a really nice break to just chill and reset before work and school resume.
Husband and I stayed in all day. We watched football and played video games. I made waffles for breakfast and spaghetti for dinner. Neighbor gave us a box of chocolates so we had some of that too.
I moved to California from Texas with no job and about $300. Was supposed to stay with a friend's sister in San Diego until I found a job, but promptly got kicked out because apparently her husband cheated on her with a woman who looked like me. :| Luckily I had an aunt 100 miles north who took me in.
I didn't stay with her long though. OP, just keep in mind that you don't need to get an apartment of your own -- you can just rent a room for much cheaper. That's what I did for a while until I could finally afford a studio apartment.
Something I had for breakfast upset my tummy so I'm skipping dinner tonight. My husband is currently making himself some veggie (soy) chorizo and eggs. I may make myself some chicken broth later.
I've been binging Misquoting Jesus with Bart Ehrman and am really enjoying it. The host has no annoying speech disfluencies and she asks intelligent questions, and Bart Ehrman is always informative and entertaining, plus the little segments at the end and the way they are introduced are also entertaining. Makes me feel like I'm listening to a Monty Python podcast.
There is this version that's played at work and I call it the human sacrifice song. When they get to that crescendo and the choir all hit the high note together, I raise both arms up as if I were holding a baby about to be sacrificed. Now my coworkers all do it too. We'll just catch each other's eye across the room and raise both arms at the right moment.
That's great to hear that everything is still going with a healthy population. WvW is definitely a ton of fun.
I remember one skirmish we had where we came upon an enemy "blob" by a small lumber mill (I think?) and they all jumped up and stacked on a tree stump. For what purpose, I'm not sure, but I like to think they thought they had the higher ground. We wiped them, of course.
Along the same lines, here are my small DIY things that I'm proud of. I replaced the chandelier in our dining room (first time doing anything electrical) and I cleaned the heat flame sensor in our furnace which fixed the heater randomly shutting off.
I don't know why you got downvoted, especially when the thread is specifically asking you what you did that you're proud of. For what it's worth worth, I'm also proud of you.
We had a cat that would freak out when either of us was in the shower. I think she was worried because we were getting all wet.
