The CIA wishes they were even a tenth as competent as you think they are.

Go read any of the declassified reports of CIA activity, starting with the Church commission.

Or the actual events of Benghazi.

The truth is, the CIA is full of bumbling chucklefucks who have no clue if the actions they take will have the effect they want.

They can do a lot of damage, but like you, they also tend to believe the Hollywood myth making.

This belief doesn't make them any more competent, but it does make them more reckless and dangerous.

Doug was that sort of background racist that most MAGA are, but refuse to admit.

Seems like there were several factors. But we'll need the black box analysis to know more.

The Helicopter pilot was certainly in the wrong place, but from their point of view, it's understandable why they were in the wrong place.

The question is, did the controller give clear guidance?

And would a second pair of eyes on the situation have helped?

It will take more than 8 years to repair the damage done so far.

Except unless they had been lobotomized, they knew damn well that their vote was being thrown away and that Trump would be the likely winner.

Which is tact approval of Trump and everything that came with it.

Except Republicans are pushing anti-trans laws to prevent people from changing their names. The current proposal floating around would prevent married women from voting because they take on their husband's last name.

Repetitive Nickelback wasn't "discovered" in 2017.

There were radio stations back in 2004 who would do the trick where you play two Nickelback songs, sync the music, and cross fade back and forth.

You could do that trick with more than one pair, but to my knowledge couldn't do three songs at once...

Creed gets the hate for being an overtly Christian band.

Some of their songs are alright, but the 100% Jesus 100% of the time is fucking exhausting.

Nickelback gets the hate because they constantly recycled songs. The same background music to different lyrics. All so that they could get more radio play or some shit.

Which is what really drove the hate. These bands got a disproportionate amount of radio play.

Checklist movies. It becomes more important for the movie to have X element due to marketing reasons rather than plot reasons.

If the movie has more marketing elements than plot elements, it's a checklist movie.

The thing is, it's not one or the other. Project 2025 is chock full of racist shit.

Most of the missteps were pandering to the right. The brilliant idea was to try to siphon away right wing voters from Trump, which was fucking stupid because she abandoned the Dem base to do so.

An appearance on Rogan would have done nothing to help her win, because most lefties stopped listening to Rogan years ago.

And the right is never going to abandon Trump. He lets them say and do the horrible shit that they would otherwise be ejected from society for.

Arch as a first distro is an interesting choice.

But likely fr better than my first distro, Slackware.

I had known about the Church of the Subgenius and then heard that there was a Linux distro based on that...

At the time, the wikis were not really up to the task...

These days I run Mint on my writing laptop, and unfortunately am back to Windows on my gaming rig.

But might swap back to Gaurda for gaming...
