  • I agree with these people on all kinds of things, but what do they want me to do?

I don't think it matters what these people want you to do. We shouldn't be letting media people tell us what we should do anyway, even if they were all communists, they aren't political organizers, at best they are propagandists and information sources for our cause. We are communists and we have to decide what we should do based on our own world outlook and our own theoretical framework. You should just see these media personalities as simply one more asset to help you in educating, agitating and organizing the working class.

That's why i personally don't care whether the forms of activism that they engage in are ineffectual or misguided, because i don't take my cues from them.

  • See all of that just sounds to me like you think they are controlled opposition because you disagree with some of their views and tactics. I don't know this Kiriakou person but i will admit he sounds like a bit of a grifter. The rest of them i just think are not communists, that's all. And because they are not they will do or say things and associate with people that we don't like or agree with.

As for alleged scandals, a huge disclaimer that i have not looked into any of those allegations so they may very well be true, but a priori i always tend to be skeptical of when anti-establishment figures suddenly become embroiled in all sorts of allegations, as the intelligence agencies are known for planting dirt on people, creating infighting and discrediting people who pose a threat to the imperialist state.

I think it's good to be cautious and skeptical, but maybe we shouldn't let that turn into all out paranoia that makes us see ops in every corner, because that only benefits our enemies. Sometimes even people who are not communists can be useful, as sources of information, as situational allies on certain anti-imperialist causes, etc.

  • Maybe. And i'm open to evidence to back that theory up, but for the time being i personally don't believe it. I think that's too convoluted an explanation when a much simpler one fits perfectly well. We shouldn't ascribe more subtlety or intelligence to the ruling class than they actually have. Most of these people are not evil geniuses, they are just evil...and some of them are really not that bright at all.

Sometimes the only reason why they do things is the straightforwardly obvious one: they are desperately trying to reassert control in a situation in which they fear they are losing it, when they feel everything is spiraling out of control for them and they just don't care anymore about being subtle.

And sometimes it turns out that they can get away with it, which then emboldens them to go even further next time, but sometimes they can't, and they find out that they have underestimated the level of pushback they will actually get. It's the same phenomenon of arrogance and belief in their own omnipotence that we see the imperialists display over and over. But whether they succeed or not in this or that individual case is not very relevant, because the intimidation still occurs either way.

  • Intimidation. And it works. Not many people have the public support that these bigger journalists do to be able to pressure the government to release them. So the whole thing has a chilling effect on anti-hegemonic, anti-imperialist speech in the West because the average person is scared to be the next target of the state and suddenly having the police at their door or being abducted off the street into a van under some trumped up charge. They are doing exactly what they have always accused their geopolitical enemies of doing.

  • And no mainstream media publication is going to say a word about this. They are not going to accuse Austria of suppressing free speech by targeting journalists (as they 100% would if this happened in a country like Russia or China), they are not going to call them authoritarian, repressive, dictatorship or totalitarian. There will simply be crickets, or if they do write anything it will be to take the side of the state and pile on to the slander against Richard calling him a terrorist or terrorist sympathizer.

As we have seen with the whole USAID saga now, there is no such thing as "independent media" in the West, at least not in the mainstream. They are all funded by Zionist billionaires, tech oligarchs, government agencies and shady NGOs. And the German language media are some of the worst in the world...the shit i have to read and hear every day from them makes me wish i didn't speak German.

  • It's DKP, not KPD. KPD was banned during the cold war.

Unfortunately DKP will not be on the ballot this time . I voted for them last election but this time the only communist parties on the ballot are going to be MLPD and SGP, both not particularly great choices and sort of a waste of a vote.

Might just have to go with Linke as the least bad option. Although i hate how much they've been capitulating to the establishment on the Ukraine issue (and Palestine, but that's a given in German politics). BSW is better on the war and they're more anti-establishment but they have a lot of other problematic rhetoric that really kind of puts me off. And BSW is probably going to do better in the elections than Die Linke.

Bottom line, there are no really good electoral choices if you're an anti-imperialist in Germany right now. I guess BSW is the closest thing (on the ballot) to an actual anti-war party, but it's hard to ignore their dumb as shit stances on some of the cultural issues...

All i know is Merz is a fucking psycho and unfortunately it looks like he's going to be the next chancellor, and worse still, he's probably going to get there by bringing those lunatic Greens into a coalition who are going to push him even harder to escalate to insane levels of warmongering against Russia.

And CDU absolutely will capitulate to the AfD on immigration. And they will ramp up the neoliberalism even more. And the Greens will make sure that the coalition government will be totally subservient to the US on every geopolitical issue. Basically we're headed for the absolute worst case scenario here in Germany, there's just no other way of putting it.

The only ray of hope i have is looking forward to how much all of these sick freaks will lose their shit when Russia wins in Ukraine, which at this point is only a matter of time.

  • The diaspora nationalists outside of Ukraine can afford to be keyboard warriors from the safety of not having to worry about the TCC thugs coming to forcibly draft them. That is until European governments decide to start to deport them back because Kiev is running out of cannon fodder. Then they will have a rude awakening.

Western liberals just don't care and are never going to care about Ukrainians dying so long as their fantasies of seeing dead Russians keep getting fulfilled. Until the missiles start raining down on them...

  • The media are starting to admit to the reality but even this article is still trying to cushion the blow somewhat, to rosify the picture at least a little bit. Reality unfortunately is even bleaker, which is that if it weren't for the literal Nazi torture and murder gangs that the Kiev regime uses to keep people in line and force them to fight, and the repressive police apparatus arresting or just disappearing people for online posts containing anything that they can construe as "treason", no one but the most diehard Nazis would be fighting anymore.

And this machinery of the regime and all its thugs are only being kept afloat by the ungodly amounts of money that the US and Europe pour in daily. If that tap gets turned off the whole house of cards collapses.

This conflict was never existential for Ukrainians, it was never the fight of the average Ukrainian, and even though the West managed, through the Ukrainian media which they completely control and whose funding they are virtually 100% responsible for (as we saw by how quickly all of the Kiev regime media suddenly started begging when the USAID money was put on pause by Trump) to fool a lot of Ukrainians into losing their lives for nothing, by now i think most Ukrainians have realized that they have been played. Only the most diehard Ukronazi true believers still cling to the delusion of "total victory".

But sadly the Ukrainians are now stuck in the prison that the West has turned their country into, and it's only Russia that can break down the walls of this prison. They will do this by decisively defeating NATO's Ukrainian proxy army.

  • Hypothetically in Minecraft and without advocating for anything that could be construed as breaking the law in my country, we should be organizing our own militias and doing the same kind of weapons, squad tactics and physical proficiency training as these far right groups are, else we will be left holding the short end of the stick when shit hits the fan.

  • Indeed, there is a whole complex history behind this as these things are not static and change over time. Around the mid century there was a big shift in population in the US from urban to suburban which was not equally distributed across race and class lines. There were various reasons for this but certainly a major factor was the mass adoption of the automobile and the buildout of associated infrastructure.

So is a similar shift away from the urban eventually going to happen in China as high speed rail connectivity expands even into the most remote rural areas and as the buildout of general infrastructure continues? I've seen some indications that this is already happening to some degree, as digital infrastructure and the spread of e-commerce allows people to conduct economic activity without having to be physically located in urban centers.

For now it looks like the migration from rural to urban is still ongoing and overall stronger than the opposite trend, and it seems to me this will continue for a while, but eventually an inflection point may be reached.

  • As the other response pointed out, this graph obviously hints at greater wealth disparity in the US vs China, as one of the most common ways in which the mean can be pulled upwards relative to the median is by the presence of a small minority with extreme wealth at the very top. The median while not perfect is a better representative of the situation in which the "average" person finds themselves, as by definition half are above and half are below this value. Imo one of the most important statistics concepts that everyone should learn is the difference between mean and median and what each value can tell us about how a set of values is distributed.

  • I mean i haven't looked into the source but i assume it probably means not rural. This is an interesting point because of course we could go into more depth about the way that the US and China differ in their respective urban vs rural population distribution. China still has a larger proportion of its population living in rural areas than is the case in "developed" countries. And one of the major problems that China has been working on is solving the economic and infrastructure disparity between urban and rural. This is a huge task and one that is still ongoing. That being said the majority of China's population is now living in urban areas, which is a big change from just 70 years ago when the majority was still rural. So while this graph doesn't tell the whole picture it is still fairly representative. As for rural populations in the West, doing a proper analysis of their economic and class makeup is a whole topic into its own and is not as simple as one would think because on the one hand you do have many people in the US living in rural areas in fairly pronounced proverty conditions (Appalachia, Midwest, etc.) but you also have some quite affluent petty bourgeois farmers.

  • Any Leftists that don't think China is AES are going to have to do some explaining and rationalizing soon.

Most of all i feel really sad for them. Must be really depressing to consider yourself a communist and think that the biggest success story of modern times in lifting hundreds of millions out of poverty and turning one of the poorest, most devastated and most underdeveloped countries in the world into the world's largest and most productive economy within less than one human lifespan is actually capitalist... Imagine living that way.
