  • Modern farm fertilizers are all made with ammonia which is produced with natural gas. Apparently Yara,a Norwegian company, is trying to replace the fossil fuel with solar power. Source

Of course you could also use manure or compost as fertilizer, but only some of the few small farmers would probably be willing to since it is harder and therefore more costly.

  • Based on this infographic, it is pretty clear that Israel doesn't have the high ground. 6407 Palestinian deaths vs 6407 vs 308 Israeli Deaths in the past 15 years. But do note that the recent attack in the war resulted in 900 Israeli Deaths that are not included in the above comparison.

  • Military nominees are usually bundled together and confirmed by a voice vote in the Senate to speed along appointments but under the senate’s rules a single senator can hold up this process.

This is the real world consequences of republican 'leadership' in the house. Extreme republicans like tuberville and gaetz can capture attention from the traditional news outlets for weeks because they forced mccarthy to relax rules like this.

In this case it allows tuberville to rail against 'abortion' when he is actually attacking time off for reproductive care for women. It is not abortion he has an issue with; it is women caring about whether or not they can or should have a baby.

  • I can certainly get that it feels like most third parties are there to siphon votes from major political parties and sow discord.

I really want various ballot initiatives to succeed in changing how voting is done in the US, so you can safely vote for the candidate you actually want without handing the election to the worst candidate.

Funnily enough their is a third party for that. One of the Forward's main policy is Ranked Choice Voting.

They plan to start focusing on local and state elections as those positions make the election laws.

there’s a lot of hard work that has to be done before that gains enough momentum across many states and towns and smaller localities in the US that it might be feasible to change the way voting is done on a federal level.

Indeed, there is lots of work to be done. You can volunteer with your state's local group if you think it is important. They have groups organized in 43/50 states.

  • The purpose of life is what you make it.

Society in my area says the purpose of life is to get a job, get married, and have some kids. All of these are optional but each one increases your perceived value to the government and to individual people. Some people work their entire lives conforming to societies expectations for them and still live what they would describe as unfulfilling lives.

Instead, or in addition to, I would suggest you focus on creating your own purpose. I would describe a purpose as a overarching objective for your life. I'll list some purposes that you could adopt.

    • Provide companionship for those who you deem deserving.
    • Care for others by providing a stable living environment.
    • Guide people to make informed choices.
    • Help others to use their resources wisely.
    • Inspire peers to think about their purpose in life.
    • Join and help an organized group that has an overarching purpose you want to contribute towards.
    • Entertain other people and yourself.
    • Make something you can share with others.
    • Organize others to help achieve a shared purpose.
    • Form your own opinions on how life should be lived and apply them.

These are a small sampling of purposes people adopt and you need not limit yourself to one. However be mindful that your attention is limited and each purpose can take a considerable amount of time. With that in mind try to pick goals and activities that help you achieve your purpose(s).

In pursuing your purpose, you will find moments of happiness. Embrace them. You will also find moments of frustration and anger. Understand why you feel this way and learn to embrace them as well. Understand when your emotions are clouding your judgement and learn to resist it when necessary.

    Happy travels.

  • I watched interview on mainstream media about the forward party. Yang refused to be nailed to any position, and wouldn’t say that maybe self-described Nazis shouldn’t have a place in his party.

What interview was that? I would appreciate a source.

I don't exactly trust most mainstream corporate outlets to not take the statements out of context.

they just aren’t a thing of any substance.

That is your opinion and a rather ill-defined one. What do you mean by they aren't a thing of substance? It's not exactly like any of US politics is filled with currently filled with 'substance' anyway.

Their stance is that the 2 major parties aren't representative of the people's wishes. Their solution to that problem is largely the same solution proposed and massively upvoted in this thread: voting reform in the form of Racked Choice Voting and Nonpartisian Primaries.

  • Feel free to dismiss any new idea with baseless name calling if you want.

Unlike Forward Party, No Labels is actually funded and made up of mainstream US politicians and interest groups. No Labels is an establishment group pushed by right wing(republican) corporate interests. Forward Party is an outsider third party that is ignored by the established media outlets because they don't control it.

The linked video assumes the left right spectrum is communism vs capitalism which is NOT how it is used in the US. In the US left is dems and right is repubs to the general population. That is the meaning of Forward's Slogan in this context.

They are saying both of the democratic and republican parties are wrong and we need a different approach that does not conform to party lines. That is exactly what the OP shows.

  • If any of you actually want to work towards a solution to this look into Forward Party. Forward Party is trying to make third parties actually viable through ranked-choice voting and open, nonpartisan primaries. Once states move past First Past the Post voting, it will actually be possible to vote for third parties without acting as a spoiler.

  • If I had to guess, it is probably due to the natural resistance that people have towards the idea that they are being manipulated. Also some people have a hard-on for pleasing those that society preaches are better than them. Re: Musk fanboys

  • I prefer this fuller version

Never attribute to malice that which can be adequately explained by neglect, ignorance or incompetence.

Stupidity implies it is something that cannot be changed. Usually their behavior could be changed but it is just a hard task to change their behavior that requires the person in question to be willing to change.

  • Kindness is at best a veneer for the vast majority.

I admire your clarity of thought here.

The pandemic did reduce my stress level temporarily by getting me away from people pleasing behavior but it also made me feel kinda jaded about people for a while.

I like your username. How did you come up with it if you don't mind sharing?
