  • I'd be cautious.

These malformed images may be malicious.

A malformed image should not cause a crash. I'm not sure what libraries Sync uses for this stuff, but the bug should be reported upstream (assuming it's not just some exception mishandling going on in Sync.)

  • Yikes. So COVID is still twice as deadly as the flu.

Edit: I guess twice as deadly isn't exactly correct. It could be equally as deadly as the flu, but twice as transmissible. That actually seems likely. Still, twice as many deaths is really bad either way.

  • Most folks are going to say "the country is moving in the wrong direction." That's just a natural outcome of having a centrist (center-right by EU standards) as President in a highly polarized political climate.

Progressives want more social services. Conservatives want to own the libs.

While I would vote for someone more progressive if I had the choice, honestly a centrist may be good to just cool things down. Though Biden hasn't been great at that either.

  • While the tone of the comment is dismissive, they have a point.

It's not the engineers that are the problem, or even limited to the tech industry. Dark patterns are top-down business decisions, motivated by money.

It's not that the "tech industry doesn't understand consent," but rather that greedy people do evil things. And software is just a low hanging fruit for that kind of business.

  • It's simple interest, not compound interest.

So it just adds the same amount each day: just under 0.025% of the original fine (i.e. 9% per year, accrued daily).

At least according to the Legal Eagle video I watched about it.

Edit: Thanks jmfwnsfw for the correction. I originally said 9% per day which is insane. It's 9% per year, accrued daily.

  • This is how LJ operates.

Sync is already polished. It's older than Lemmy itself, originally released in 2013!!! The current version is 23!

There aren't a ton of updates these days because there's not much to update. This app is polished as hell, having over a decade of development.

Edit: There are way too many sinks being posted. All by OP. Mods, can we ban them already?

  • I'm pretty sure China is the biggest EV market. There just simply aren't enough people in Sweden.

The population of Sweden is 10M. A little bit more than the population of metro Chicago.

As a percentage of population, EV adoption is extremely high. But the ceiling for the EV market is nothing compared to China.
