  • My thoughts exactly. Some of these ads are just plain weird in a way that they would never dare today.

  • It only took one question for me to start wanting to flip tables.

  • I’m right there for sure. Sadly, a whole lot of the people I work with are drinking the AI kool-aid hard.

  • Not me snarkily sharing this report in work chat. 🤣

  • Man I thought the well was so dang creepy when I originally played it.

  • I played so much SoT back around 2019/2020! Was such a blast just hanging out on the seas.

I agree with your comment about the water, it really is beautiful.

I know folks have mentioned disliking the pvp aspect and believe me I get it - I was never particularly good at it especially in close encounters. But I will say some of the most genuinely exciting memories I have are of those times when we had a boatload of loot with some pirates hot on our tail and managed to get away with it.

The crew I played with eventually moved on to other things but I still miss it now and then.

  • Yes! They really under utilized free roam, especially when you look at how big a deal they made out of it in the reveal trailer.

  • Agreed. I’m pretty much completely over World at this point and only play if my kid asks me to. I think it’s technically impressive and gorgeous to look at, but the tracks are so utterly boring I have little motivation to fire it up.

I’m still salty about the lack of local multiplayer free roam too, but that’s another issue entirely.

  • Definitely looks interesting. I probably won’t buy it on day one, but it’s a strong chance I’ll get around to playing it eventually.

I don’t think I’ve actually played a mainline DK game since the SNES days, now that I think about it.

  • Hype!! The new music is fire. 🔥

  • I’ve been using Tecsee Coral switches for about 3 years now. Tactile, 55g actuation and 65g bottom out force. I like them a lot.

My only complaint with them is they do have a tiny bit of wobble. I wish they felt more solid in that regard.

I’m also starting to feel like it’d be fun to play around in slightly higher spring forces.

  • Guess that’s me too. I loved Fallout 3 and wasn’t really aware of a lot of hate for it.

  • The original Portal game does a good job of this. The first several puzzles are essentially tutorials that still manage to feel fun and interesting.

  • I wasn’t aware they tried to make it a live service game, but that’s also incredibly unsurprising. It explains so much.

  • Nice write up. I agree the build quality of the handheld itself feels good.

All the Switch 2 games I have (Breath Of The Wild Switch 2 edition, Welcome Tour, Mario Kart World) run super smooth in 4K60 mode, no complaints here.

I will say anecdotally I noticed the frame rate in MK World absolutely tanked once we went up from 2 players to 3 in local multiplayer. YMMV.

  • My Best Buy order says shipping tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

  • And someone just committed to it only 2 hours ago. That’s really strange.

  • Some of those co-op bonus levels are brutal too. I played through them with my kid last year and it was great.

Sadly the single player campaign has some bad glitches on the switch that can prevent progression if you get unlucky.

  • I’ve noticed it too, the people of Lemmy really despise Nintendo.

  • In many ways the jankiness is part of the charm and why so many of us love it. :)
