Yeah, most people don't realize your bank has your back. If you paid by card online, you're protected in situations like this - the vendor then has 14 days responsibility to respond to your bank and tell them why they refused to cancel the service for the customer with a good enough excuse otherwise the customer almost always wins a chargeback.
This was actually discussed a few months back

Well, well, well, look who's defending their beloved billionaire. It's truly fascinating how some people can overlook glaring issues and defend questionable decisions. Let's dissect your defense, shall we?
Firstly, you claim that since Twitter is now in private hands, there's no need to paint a picture for the public. Ah, yes, because transparency and accountability are such outdated concepts, right? Who needs the public's trust when one person can make all the decisions behind closed doors? It's not like Twitter is a platform that millions of people rely on for news, communication, and information.
You also applaud the efforts to make the platform more economical, but conveniently ignore the consequences. Sure, reducing the team might save some money, but what about the impact on content moderation? By firing a significant number of content moderation staff, Twitter has allowed extremist content to flourish, tarnishing its reputation and driving away advertisers. But hey, who needs ad revenue when you have a billionaire at the helm, right?
Speaking of advertisers, you seem to brush off the importance of brand safety and the impact of hate speech on ad placements. Advertisers understandably don't want their brands associated with extremist views or hate speech. By failing to address this issue effectively, Musk has driven away advertisers, causing a significant loss of revenue for Twitter. It's not "childish" for people to criticize such negligence; it's simply holding a company accountable for its actions.
And let's not forget Musk's refusal to pay rent on Twitter's offices. It's truly admirable how he thinks he can just disregard contractual obligations and leave property owners high and dry. Such behavior shows a complete disregard for the law and basic decency.
Oh, and the whole bedroom installation in the San Francisco headquarters? That's just downright creepy. Who in their right mind thinks it's acceptable to convert a commercial space into a residential one without proper zoning? Musk's actions in this regard are not only inappropriate but also demonstrate a lack of respect for regulations and the communities in which his company operates.
While it's true that many billionaires own media outlets, that doesn't excuse Musk's questionable decisions and mismanagement. Controlling the narrative should never come at the expense of allowing hate speech and extremism to run rampant. Musk's actions on Twitter are not the signs of a genius businessman; they're the actions of someone more interested in their own ego and power.
So, before you rush to defend your beloved Musk, take a step back and consider the real consequences of his decisions. Twitter deserves better leadership and accountability, not blind adoration from its defenders.
For nearly the past 20 years, cancelling XM radio (and now SiriusXM) required a phone call to customer service to cancel an account. Literally you could log in, add new radios, upgrade subscriptions, etc from the website, but you could NOT cancel online.
I was pleasantly surprised that they finally seem to have listened and you can now unsubscribe online without making a phone call. I guess they realized the labor costs were more than the number of customers they were retaining with the dumb policy.
Ahhh, see from my Zortrax printer I learned that PETG benefits from no enclosure - drafts are fine. It actually helps increase print quality. I run my Prusa Mk3s printers with no enclosure (since I only use them for mainly PETG and TPU, and occasionally PLA). I have Zortrax printers for my ABS, ABS/PolyCarbonate Blends, and HIPS plastics (but holy hell I hate the closed software on the Zortrax printers and their Zsuite slicing software - absolute garbage which cripples printers that cost thousands of dollars - I can't even tweak temperature, fan speeds, flow rates, etc mid-print like literally every other printer I've handled over the past decade!).
That's so strange, I have no problems printing PETG all the time. Like I said, I have different PEI sheets for my Prusa printers - smooth for PLA, textured and satin sheets for basically everything else. Honestly though I probably print PETG 95% of the time, I only use PLA plastic for prototyping because I have a lot of rolls just sitting around.
What are you cleaning the bed with? What kinda printer?
Yep, he's grasping at straws to stay relevant. If there's one thing he knows, it's how to manipulate the media. And right now the only way he can get their attention to post what he says, is if he says something truly outlandish and more "trumpy" than other political commentators from conservative outlets.
It begs the question - were they always thinking this stuff and now feel entitled to say it out loud? Or are they being coaxed by propaganda generated by some of our nations enemies in order to break apart our country? Is this all one big state-sponsored psy-ops attack by a foreign country?
I don't know. But it sure as hell scares the hell out of me.
On my Prusa printers - different surfaces work better for different materials. For example PLA works great on smooth PEI surfaces. But PETG has trouble sticking - PETG works better on the textured or satin PEI sheets which have a more "grippy" surface for PETG (and TPU).
Pro tip from experience - when using textured build surfaces, be sure to increase first-layer nozzle temp an extra 5c to 10c - this helps the plastic really ooze into the crevices of the textured surface.
With my Satin PEI sheets on my Prusa printers, I just printed 4000 items for a wholesale partner on three different MK3s printers (all dialed in and running as intended) - roughly 3000 hours of print time. Not a single time did I have a part pop loose mid-print, and I still haven't cleaned the surfaces in over a year. But I also don't use any extra "adhesives" like hair-spray or glue-stick to increase adhesion. All I need to do is pop off the pieces of scrap plastic (like the 1-layer skirt and bleed line at the front of the build surface and print the next copy of the parts.
If you aren't using a PEI build surface, you don't know what you're missing lol
There it is, Stargate SG-1
Damn that show starts off slow - most people can't get past season one. But holy heck does it have an amazing team writing the plots. I thoroughly enjoyed that show. And it's so underrated. I know I never watched it much when it was on air weekly with new episodes
For sure. I have a micro homestead with a lot of chickens (dozens upon dozens lol) - we raise them for eggs, meat, and the manure (which we use to make awesome soil for the garden). We keep the coop extremely clean (like multiple times a month we clean it out), and we keep our chickens healthy (constantly treating for parasites, mites, worms, etc) so they live a happy healthy life.
Those eggs come out clean in the nests because we keep them clean as well. I personally would probably rinse it off right before cracking open just because it's me, but yeah there's no salmonella in our coop because we maintain sanitary conditions (probably way more than the average backyard chicken owner).
Wanna learn something completely different yet useful? Check out OpenSCAD - it's a very simple programming language which lets you generate 3D models that you can then export and 3D print (you can also export 2D models in vectorized 2D formats like DXF and SVG)
Really simple software to learn, but extremely empowering when paired with a 3D printer
suddenly m/IASIP lol
Damn I love that show
Pretty sure the story I heard is that one time while doing a lot of blow, he apparently scrawled "My Pillow!" on every surface in his kitchen (or bedroom? I forget). When he woke in the morning, he took it as a sign to start a pillow company and "find Jesus".
But I can't find a source for that story at this point, aside from saying he was a cocaine addict - that is pretty well documented.
Damn, I felt really dumb after watching that video - half that math went over my head haha.
20 years ago, I had an insurance plan with AT&T. For $30 I could "replace" my phone under the insurance policy (once per year). Then the plan changed it was a refurbished phone not new..... then eventually the insurance plan went to a surcharge of $200 to replace with a refurbished phone.
Back in the old days I simply upgraded every one or two years under the insurance plan. But that was the days before smartphones really took off.
These days I don't have that insurance plan, and simply hold onto my phones as long as possible. I don't get it either.
I have a Galaxy S9 that I've had for five years and it just won't die on me. Not that I'm complaining, I honestly have no clue what I'll buy next. But I don't get the need to upgrade annually.
I would have totally considered a Tesla3 for my partner if not for all the reasons listed here.... Price wise they seemed like a good enough deal for a new Model3, but I couldn't get past the Musk factor, and the quality control issues - I would not trust my life in the hands of that company.
I have PETG bog planters sitting out in the sun doing just fine. I print PETG all the time on my prusa printers. Just be sure to dry the filament extensively for best results, especially on something like this where you don't want a lot of stringing lol
Love feedly - been using it since Google Reader was discontinued
AT&T Mobile too? Hot damn I had AT&T Internet for a few years and they REALLY screwed up. I started having intermittent signal issues where the reception would drop to less than 1megabit per second. They kept sending techs out who would look at their ipad and say the box in the neighborhood is showing a good signal and it MUST be all the 3D printers I have in my spare bedroom (not realizing that those printers don't even have wifi connections lol).
Finally after a dozen techs all told me I was crazy, I switched to cable internet and when I unplugged my DSL AT&T modem, it turns out the phone cable was loose (poor crimp job by the AT&T install tech when they installed the unit a few years earlier) - if one single tech had physically unplugged my modem to test signal quality from my end they would have caught the issue - but nope. So I called AT&T to cancel and they refused to cancel - they transferred the call to an account retention specialist who kept refusing to let me cancel the service - trying to offer me better rates and such. I was shaking I so angry, I told them they had a dozen chances over six months to fix the issue and never did.
