  • +1 for Garmin!! I've got 2 Fenix watches and they're so important to me I'd be lost without them.

  • Seiko are great watches. I have a couple of G-Shock watches and a Garmin heart rate monitor watch. The Garmin is kinda like a smart watch but more practical. It's got all the sports stuff you'd ever need but GPS too. It makes for an excellent daily-driver watch.

I find HRM watches to be very handy. I can tell from checking my heart rate whether I need to slow down my running speed. I can tell if I start running for something how long I'll last by checking my heart rate. If it's in the "anabolic zone" I'll crap out in a few minutes. If it's in the "aerobic zone" I'll crap out when my body gives up.

It's also been handy for monitoring my general fitness. Resting heart rate, steps, floors travelled, etc. I recommend the Garmin Fenix if you ever wanna try out a 'Smart watch' again: https://www.garmin.com/en-GB/p/641479

  • I remember showing Ocarina to my dad and excitedly telling him it's the peak of gaming and nothing would ever beat it's graphics! Think I completed the game in 26hrs non-stop without sleep.

I've seen it since and it's so blocky I struggle to see how I ever liked it. So I will appreciate the memories instead. :)

The N64 controller is my favourite ever controller. Bizarre shape but I had so many hours racked up on it in my teens that it holds a special place in my heart.

Which Roguelikes do you like? I'm the same - hate them all for being overly difficult. Except original ADOM which I played constantly.

  • I've found games like that too filled with super serious gamers. DoTA is the same but the community is a bit friendlier.

I have ZERO patience so I'll just storm ahead into battle and try to fuck things up but that's not a great way to play cos you keep dying and lose time on the board. I tried to get into Heroes of the Storm when it started and the more casual players were a lot more fun but over time it developed the usual crowd of hardcore addicts that ruined it.

  • Unreal Tournament

The fucking PINACLE of FPS games. Nothing can be more badass than rocket jumping across the map and fragging someone point-blank!!

All the hyper-realistic FPS we've had since like CoD and CS are shite in comparison.

  • Horizon Zero Dawn

I'm shocked to see you put this in the same breath as the others. I found the story SO in-depth and fascinating that I spent hours just reading lore on the fan wikis. Loved that game but the second one stripped a lot of the lore out and made it more mindless.

  • Never liked GTA games. I find them very repetitive and boring. However, I fucking LOVE Saints Row 4 which I think of as comedy-GTA. Had so much fun pissing around doing insane shit on SR. It's a shame the franchise died.

  • Have you played Mindustry? It's an open source game available on Linux. I've heard people describe it as an "open source Factorio".

  • I tried playing Paper Mario a few months ago having never played a Mario game fully before. I got bored with all the intro chatting text and quit.

  • I tried to get into that game so many times but it was such a bloody slog!!! I've since found Torchlight I & II scratched that simple dungeony-DnD-ish itch.

  • Ocarina of Time was the peak Zelda game. ๐Ÿ‘ Not played any others since.

  • I fucking HATE Souls-like games. I love fantasy and RPG games but FromSoft games are just hard for the sake of being hard.

I'm an adult with a life (kinda) - I don't have 600hrs to dedicate to defeating the fucking Taurus Demon. I even looked up HOW to kill it but apparently my controller usage wasn't good enough to move at speed even though I completed God of War 3 on the highest difficulty.

The fact I had to re-tread the same stupid fucking area before that to reach the fucking Taurus Cunt was to much.

I quit the game and vowed to never play another FromSoft game or anything that claimed to be a "Souls-like".

I stupidly listened to someone say Sekiro was a better game than Ghost of Tsushima (which I love). So I played it....

WTF?! The first group of enemies were all identical - no variations. There was also only TWO fucking moves I could perform. A wooden-looking block and a janky looking attack. An absolute fucking abortion of a game and I'm convinced the idiot who told me it was better than GoT had never played it.

  • You can't be an anime fan without FMA:Brotherhood in your top anime.

  • If people don't spot the dripping sarcasm I dunno if they'll understand the /s! ๐Ÿคฃ

  • I feel like Emacs is going to suffer with the prevalence of window managers that are shortcut heavy. I looked at learning Emacs but the keyboard shortcuts all interfere with Awesome so it's a nightmare. The only way I'd manage is by switching TTY to terminal with Ctrl+Alt+F-key which kinda ruins it!

  • Multiline cut

I just use visual edit mode. Or 5yy for copy 5 lines. Paste is easy - p.

I'm shit at navigating and anything with the "g" command. I never bothered learning that.
