  • It's not “treatment-resistant depression”. It's seeing the world for what it is and wanting off the ride. I won't be missed - no family or friends. 20yrs of suicide attempts is just a drain on the state. Be easier for everyone if I was just killed off.

  • I browse Lemmy & Reddit for 12-16hrs per day and eat out of bean tins. I shower once per week before meeting my probation officer.

    That's about it.

  • I have no evidence of who's falling for my 'trolling' online but it's very similar to what you describe. I'll make some absurd, nonsense claim or insult them using flowery nonsense language that can't possibly be taken seriously - but they do!

    I suggested that Java devs (programmers) are the reason we'll never have FTL engines. They took me seriously!

    Yet there's other times you'll get obviously younger people screaming in comments under videos "FAKE!" because they can't conceive that the video'd thing could happen.

    In that instance I can understand it to a degree because they don't have the lived years experience to compare what they're seeing on screen. You'll get them claiming "that would never happen" or "people don't do that and if you think it's real go touch grass" and I'm thinking - "hang on that's happened to me at least 3 times".

    I understand it's probably just the arrogance of youth but it's quite shocking at times just how confident they can be of their own ignorance.

  • I've never tried it but considering there's 3 different boil levels for steeping tea called inventively first, second and third boil.

    Also the levels of oxygen in the water can affect the taste of the tea I would hazard a guess that microwaving water will create a fucking cupped abortion.

    A microwave - no matter how clean - will probably imbue the water with 'extras'. Tea is extremely delicate. I swore I hated tea until one day aged 21yo a friend made me a cup and it turns out I'd been drinking tea wrong the previous 21yrs. It took another 5-6yrs for me to find my preferred tea making method. Everything from the cup to teapot and water hardness level. Whether it has additives in the water and how much. How long to steep for. Each tea can require different steeping times to get the right colour and taste.

    Making GOOD tea right isn't as easy as people think.

  • Humankind just straight up fell on its face.

    Hol up! I fucking loved Humankind - I dunno why people hate on it. I think if you play it without expectations of playing Civ then it's a great game in it's own right. It's got some neat features and cool gameplay mechanics. It's also got a nice clean UI.

    Civ may have more depth but it's on it's 6th iteration and it's UI is still a confusing mess.

    Granted I didn't pay for it so maybe I'm biased!
