  • Sorry I’m late to respond, been under the weather as well as visiting family recently. I’m one of the mods of !recipes@lemmy.world, !sousvide@lemmy.world, and !koreanfood@lemmy.world.

I do agree with that strategy, but I don't think there's any going back at this point. When the migration happened, people all over Lemmy created the same communities and some took off, some didn't. Most of our culinary communities weren't created during this time, but later when we found a topic we wanted to have a community around. I think also, most of our communities are generic enough to where the only next step in merging would be to just stick everything under !food@lemmy.world (I see that community has been abandoned as well).

what good is fragmenting a fledging community and losing the visibility gained from posting in one area with high traffic?

I don't understand your logic on this. You don't have to pick one community and ignore the others. Be part of them all and contribute where it fits. No one is saying you have to stop posting in one because it fits the other more. Post in all of them where it's relevant. And if some communities die off, then that's fine. It's all an experiment in my eyes.

Someone wining that they get no traffic doesn’t really incentive me to post in their communities.

You said no offense meant, and then decided to be negative in your last sentence, but to respond to this; No one is whining, we are just doing what we can to be inclusive. We are just trying to help eachother out and hopefully we all grow. I don't know what your other post about it being political was about and I don't know what you're finding so negative about us sharing eachothers communities. None of us are complaining. We're just trying to spread awareness of other communities and hope that everyone takes part and Lemmy can grow to be a fun place to be.

Very interesting idea and it's something we have been talking about, especially since Lemmy is very fractured. It would probably be beneficial to combine some communities. Hopefully Lemmy grows and we can easily support the most niche communities.

I don’t do much cooking but I love the food! I’ll be sure to vote more frequently

Please do, and comment often. We love getting involved in the discussions.

Looks like the sidebar has been updated with some of the other communities. All us mods of culinary communities have been discussing together how we can all grow and definitely the main thing is just posting in relevant communities. I think we're all pretty lax on what gets posted as long as it's just not relevant at all. We understand Lemmy is growing and hardcore gatekeeping is definitely not needed, especially currently. Hope to see your posts.

  • LMAO, that's why I said. She doesn't cook at all really so I get that, but holy hell that's the bare minimum you should be doing.

  • Yes exactly! I really didn't like him at first but the more they interact, he's just part of the team IMO. You can really see the friendship grow and it's so endearing.

Like he’d get mad at you for eating shit but cook you a bomb version to prove it.

This I definitely relate with. I love to feed people and watch them experience good taste and I will definitely lose my mind when I find out your bad cooking habits. I visited with some family over last weekend and my step-aunt said she doesn't use salt and I about lost my shit! But it really makes me want to show you what you're missing out on.

  • Lol, that's exactly what I was saying to my Mom about why I think about those things. Because I feel like if more people did, real change could be enacted. It's that important to me and why I deal with the hurt it brings me. I mean, that's the whole point of marches and protests; to bring awareness to those issues that need more people to be aware of.

  • This was my thought as well. I would prefer her to be an actual variant but I feel like, just based on Jonathan Majors' status before all the DV stuff, she was written as just a side character to him. But who knows at this point. But the MCU needs more female villains, IMO.

  • Oh I'm addicted to them, lol. Found out about them about a year ago and have been trying to catch up on all their videos ever since. I am loving this current series with Mr. Z in Korea. The enjoyment just overflows out of him and it's so interesting getting the chef's perspective on all the foods he's trying for the first time.

  • Don't know why you're being cheeky about my use of quotes. There's only 1 set in the entire post in the title and I put it in quotes because it's literally called "toast" despite being a lot more than a slice of toast.

  • I've made a somewhat similar breakfast sandwich my whole life only because my dad was fond of it:

It's basically an egg salad sandwich on toast. Just brown up some Jimmy Dean breakfast sausage and mix in egg and scramble it all together. Take it off the heat and mix in mayo. Then put on toast with a slice of American cheese. Super simple but so delicious.

  • They actually opened a Korean Toast restaurant in the UK as well. Love KE and the other channel, Jolly.

  • Oh man, it's so hard cooking for one. Pretty much every meal I make is a week's worth because it's just me and it's so much easier to cook multiple servings at once.

  • it’s almost impressive how efficient the system is at keeping us down and divided.

It's such a sad realization. So much of our society, no matter where you live, is designed to do this. And we're constantly being manipulated. I have a degree in graphic design and I worked in advertising for a couple years out of college. It was the job I hated most, especially when it really hit me how much of it was just manipulating people in different ways. The most minor creative decision on any given project was made to catch the viewer in some way and it's depressing how prevalent this is in the world.

  • I'm not sure what all was mixed in with the egg but the whole thing was delicious. Sweet, savory, and spicy all in one and the texture of the egg was very light and airy, with a nice crunch from the veggies. And of course, very cheesy, which is always welcome. It was very strange, but also familiar as it was like a fancy grilled cheese sandwich.

I see that unlike the Japanese sando, they leave the crust on here.

Oh yes, it's a very specific thing, in that it is a "breakfast toaster" essentially. Toasted bread and egg is essential.

  • Oh man, I just had this conversation with my mom last weekend. The same "if you just stop X, then maybe you won't be so depressed". This time is was thinking about government and societal issues. I don't know how to get to understand that so much of what I "think" or "worry" about it just who I am and I can't stop, in the same way she can't just stop thinking about her children. It's just me and yeah, it is probably affecting my depression in some ways, but there's just some things I have to hurt.

  • It's the same cycle as if your poor, you end up having to buy the worse deals in groceries because you have to buy cheap overall, thus keeping you poor and unhealthy. Having depression causes you to be unmotivated to cook healthy and you end up eating crap, making you feel crappy, and keeping you depressed.

  • As a person with Dysthymia, shit like this pisses me off to no end. I've dealt with depression most of my life and I've lived many different lifestyles, super healthy and fit, eating very healthy and the complete opposite of the spectrum, binge eating, super overweight, getting destroyed by diabetes, and the one constant has always been the depression. Articles like this, as you say, are just a distraction and putting the blame on the victim. They obviously have an agenda to attack process foods and artificial sweeteners and depression is not the reason they are attacking them.

  • Added more info to the post.

  • Jesus, sometimes you see a comment that just makes you feel old, lol.

It comes out at the same time every week. I just...remember that time. We had to or just miss the show completely until it came out on reruns years later.

But for real, I actually use TickTick and set a reminder to make a new discussion thread around the time of airing. Use a todo list app or alarm would probably be the simplest way. I don't know of any notification function in the D+ app itself.
